Superfruit: Morello Cherry from UnBarred Brewery (Brighton, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿)

Keg draught at Tønne, Leicester. Light pinkish colour, clear with a ring of off-white head. Muted aroma of glacé cherries, a little grassy. Not that much to it. Taste is tart, a fair bit of cherry here but not overflowing, lactic notes, a touch of sour plum. Tartness sits on the tongue for quite a while. Watery body but there's gorgeous heavy carbonation to fluff it up. Quite good but not outstanding.

Castle Rock pubs are generally awesome. Here's another pub which is no exception to that rule. Ots a lovely Grade II listed building, a lot of history with Boots the Chemist that make very interesting reading. A bit heavier on food than drink, but they still offer 5 cask and about 10 keg, plus a few ciders. Some Castle Rock stuff in there as well as fairly readily available stuff (e.g. London Black) with quite a few gorgeous offerings from Cloudwater, Vault City, Weekend Project. The latter was a light mild, always a great style to see. Across the river from West Bridgford, and ten minutes from the county cricket ground. While this pub may not bowl you over, I'd be stumped as to why you'd miss it.

Handpull cask at the Salutation, Nottingham. Mid- to dark gold and clear with a film of whitish head and spotty lacing. Floral aroma, fragrant grasses, papaya, marmalade, a touch of pine. Sweet fruity taste seeping into bitterness although never too much. Light to mediumand slightly oily body, soft carbonation. Good.

A good looking ex-Home Ales pub. Old fashioned exterior and traditional open plan inside with various memorabilia and some information about the c17 Pub with the same name. However a beer pub this is not. Only Landlord and Pedigree. Wait, no, Pedigree is off, only Landlord. Condition acceptable. Decent place to hang but not for tickers on a mission.

Pennine Way from Weekend Project Brewing Co. (Lower Peover, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿)

Handpull cask at the Embankment, West Bridgford, Nottingham. Light golden and clear with an uneven film of off-white head. Malty and slightly medicinal/astringent aroma. Sweet taste, malt and light bittering hops, some agave syrup. Slightly musty on the finish. Light body, little carbonation. A classic style with everything dialled down.
