Retired American Luddite and refugee of the 2018-2024 Ratebeer/Anheuser-Busch (InBev) fiasco. Thanks Brewver for the chance to continue rating! ....... and yes, I'll soon be a supporter! ........ Since 1968, I've enjoyed all kinds of cheap macro pale lagers, starting with Carling Black Label bottles I found in Grampa Gino's wine cellar! Later, my dad had faves like Old Mil, Strohs, Bud, Coors Light and Piels! They were all good for a budding youngster like me. My ratings aren't to style, but how much I liked it. Thus, my fave styles; lambic, wild & flemish, rate much higher than IPA since I don't like bitter hoppy beers. You like IPA? The lower my IPA rating, the better according to style! There, you have it! Easy peezy, no worries!

Hazy Head Hunter IPA from Fat Head's Brewery (Middleburg Heights, United States 🇺🇸)

Can for two and a half bucks at vintage estate. Pour is slight haze on a lemonade color along with a big foamy head that fades down to nuttin in about 5 mins. Mild candy hop and pine nose. Surprised the taste is a little less bitter than expected but it does yield a mild warming sensation in the inner man puku. Yea, finding the medium bitterness in thus much easier to take than most real IPA. In the middle, maybe the bitter bite is building but I'm not sure. Got some smoother creamy palate in this. Getting some fruit in there I think. In the end, I've tasted over six different head hunters, and for me, a macro lager lover who can't stand IPAs; this stuff is almost acceptable. Before this my highest head hunter IPA was a 3.5! All the other head hunters were brutal bastards in rototilling bitterness.

Pineapple Cider from McKenzie's Hard Cider (West Seneca, United States 🇺🇸)

Bottle for 2.5$ at vintage estate. Pour is perfectly clear pale. No head. Nose is certainly apple cider with just maybe, some fruit that just maybe, be pineapple. LoL. If it is pineapple, its not in yer face and it seems to be well balanced. A little sweet, could use a bit more tartness. Easy to drink and not overly sweet so I don't have to worry about that sugar and alky burn with my jelly belly. Yea, this tastes pretty good. Can't find any ill characters. Its just that it comes across quite like a soda pop, so keep this away from the kiddies. Hehhehh. Decent level of carbonation and an overall as expected cider session. Just still a little worried about that unfermented sugar content.

Whole Hog Tart Blueberry from Stevens Point Brewery (Stevens Point, United States 🇺🇸)

Bottle for 2.5$ at vintage estate. Color is hazy orange with a touch of red brown. Nose indicates some tartness on fruit beer. Quite tart on the first taste, hard to tell its blueberry, but it certainly is tart. Good sour beer character. Sizzley, with a good level of cutting carbonation, along with the tartness, creates a mouthful of fun beer. Difficult to find any ill character in this brew. I like wild and tart brews and this does not disappoint, especially after a hot day fishing in the sun at the catfish hole. Not bad SPWH!

Blueberry Muffin from 903 Brewers (Sherman, United States 🇺🇸)

From a can this pours a slightly cloudy orange with a light brown tint. Nose is somewhat like mild blueberry candy. Interesting first taste is tart and just a tad of blueberry on top of a fairly salty brew. Sometimes many so called gose I've tasted really lacked in the salt department, this one does not. Pretty well balanced and it has nice carbonation to back it up. Yes, thru the middle, that carbonation is quite refreshing. To say this has something to do with a muffin, I must disagree. Its just a well made mildly fruited gose. No hint of muffin per say in here. Better off just calling it blueberry gose, that would be more accurate. Finish is a friendly salted gose experience. Overall this Blueberry muffin thing was a very nice, better than expected, beer tasting session.

Big stove pipe can for 1.5$ at giant eagle, the large bird of prey; an impulse purchase when picking up groceries. I saw it calling my name in the singles section, LoL. Pour in my stang is perfectly clear pale with a giant foamy head which fades in a few minutes. Nose is sort of like cherries, maybe a little artificial on the olfactory. Oh boy, first taste is like cherry cough medicine mixed with luden's cherry flavored cough drops. Now I see why it was only 7 cents an ounce, whew. Not sure if I can drink all of this. Its got a mild burning sensation coating my throat and settling into my craw. Yea think; cheap rude ameirican malt likkah in a brown paper bag mixed with some sweet cherry artificial flavoring, and then you'll have it. A little scary flashback from my college days in dahntahn pittsburgh. Oh well, what did I expect? There, you have it.
