Cosy multi roomed local reopened in May 2025. Visited on Halloween 2025. Tastefully revamped interior with plenty of wood. Convivial buzz of conversation in lounge bar. Seating is generally grouped together around three tables in the window bay. Three hand pumps, all in use, with nine other taps dispensing 5 keg beers. The three casks on my visit were Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach - the HPA was well kept. Friendly staff and locals. You’ll find a pool table in the back room. Sports matches shown, and weekly quizzes held. Not a scooper’s or ticker’s pub, but a good pint you’ll have.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 25th October 2025. Brownish copper with sha off-white foam and full lacing. Chunky malts for the aroma. Hazelnut nuttiness, peel and hints of smoke in-mouth, and a finish of smoky maltiness. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Superb.

Double Stout (Bottle) from Shepherd Neame

Bottle on 26th October 2025 from JDS via Deliveroo. Pours an inky black with dull tan foam and scant lacing. Earthy peat, dark chocolate and smoky spices in aroma. Intense roastiness in-mouth with tangy spices, coffees and bitter chocolate. A satisfying roasty finish. Medium to full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
