Pedestrian street micropub and bottle shop between the main commercial street and the river. It's a three-floored venue with the one toilet seemingly a 'Wetherspoon' away at the very top - i'm told when the place is busy the wait can be frustrating. The two drinking floors below are charming enough, although the bar and fridges takes up much of the space on the ground floor. Handily quite a few seats are able to be put outside given there's no traffic here. Keg based with a very good selection, with one cask ale available.

Close to the river where you cross to get to Bowness Bay brewery, things are a little worn and slapdash inside at the moment, although this is a pub in transition going through the process of divorcing itself from Handsome Brewery. It's no longer owned by the brewer, although the current licensee is still bound to taking Handsome ales and kegs for the time being, and there's a pretty decent enough selection for anyone visiting. They expect to be able to take a lot more guest ales in the future when they are no longer tied to Handsome. Over two floors in a converted older town house property, the bar is the first thing you encounter against the side wall. One outside table available which does get the sun.

I heard a 50+ stranger whilst drinking this one claiming his normal night out costs him £150 nowadays. This one was £4.80 a pint in the same pub so roughly works out at 32 pints! Bready malty bitter with a mid bitterness. Mildly sweet with a copper-amber appearance.

On this drinking day in 1984, New Zealander Ian Ferguson became the only Kiwi to win two Olympic gold medals on a single day. This New Zealand hop brew is fairly champion too and is hazy, hoppy with balanced fruit and pine in this respect. Aroma is similar. Slightly dry texture.

Served by a very enthusiastic bar steward who was happy to see me return to this pub for the second time in the day. Mainly because it has more new ticks and being closest to the train station. Hazy golden with a thick head, creamy textured light tropical fruit notes in both aroma and taste. Very good mouthfeel.
