Here’s a bitter with real character, the kind you won’t forget fast. Brewed using english bramling cross hops with a blackcurrant aroma, this premium amber bitter has got some bite. Darkly different and more than a bit lively, it’s quite a devious bar steward.

Served by a very enthusiastic bar steward who was happy to see me return to this pub for the second time in the day. Mainly because it has more new ticks and being closest to the train station. Hazy golden with a thick head, creamy textured light tropical fruit notes in both aroma and taste. Very good mouthfeel.

Handpull cask from VATS Bar, Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal. Tawny brown, clear with a smooth white head. Wood shavings and light lime peel on the nose, with a light metallic tinge. Sweetish taste with an almost funky woody flavour. Short dry finish with a slightly floral yet medicinal aftertaste. A simple little bitter that does the trick.
