Deepish red, semi trasparent though some particles are floating. Average to good intensity in a simple but pleasantly fresh aroma: a caramel malts base, a fresh underlying resinous feel with stone fruit notes on top of it. Taste doesn't feel as fresh sadly, and also not very polished. There's more conplexity to the hoppy notes though, with grapefruit and white grapes hints complementing the stone fruit component. The sweet/caramel base is not too timid, but there's good overall balance brought by the resinous component; sadly, the finish is quite unclean and not dry enough. Quite light bodied, average or slightly below average carbonation; dunno, feels a bit tired and flat mouthfeel wise. Overall: so, so, perhaps not in it's best condition.

Pours a very deep reddish amber that starts to fade into brown. Average sized, relatively compact head, the slightest off-white, so-so persistence but nice lacing. Average intensity in the aroma: mainly malty with caramel and lighter toasted notes, some fruitiness (kind of candied fruit like, but not very defined), a bit of underlying herbal feel and perhaps a hint of licorice. Taste notes follow the aroma; as for the smell, average intensity, so so definition. Sweetish in the mouth, balanced enough in finish/aftertaste, where a mix of herbal and licorice feel lingers. Medium body, average to high but quite delicate carbonation; a semi-full mouthfeel with a hint of creaminess, average drinkability for the abv. Ok on the overall (excellent price/quality ratio).

Pours deep/dark brown, fading into black but still showing some reddish hints through light. A straightforward smoked aroma (schlenkerla like in terms of intensity), with smoked meat and ashes/burnt wood most noticeable. A dark bread presence on the back of things and maybe a hint of floral hops. Taste confirms good intensity, with a bit more depth to it and a bit more malty presence that gives it a hint of sweet base. But just a hint, as the beer still feels pretty dry (especially for the style) and straightforwardly smoked. Notes of dark bread, perhaps the slightest hint of rye bread-like crispness, quite strong smoked notes (meaty and ashy as per aroma), dry floral hoppiness (more noticeable in finish/aftertaste). Light to medium body, light to medium carbonation, quite easily drinkable with just a hint of softness. Overall: a quite peculiar rauch, intensely smoked (sort of schlenkerla-like, but not as supported by malty sweetness, and thus dried in mouthfeel), a relatively simple taste profile (but a satisfyingly smoky one) and undoubtedly well crafted.

Near pitch black, probably clear. Light to medium sized greyish head, shows good enough retention and nice lacing. Average intensity in the aroma: dark malts with dark bread and a hint of coffee, dry floral notes and also a resinous hint, perhaps the lightest citric hints; more or less the aroma you'd expect from the style, but with a touch of softness/roundness on the back of things. Less round/soft in taste, with a relatively neutral malty base (though coffee notes are definitely there) and a quite resolute dry bitterness (floral notes, a bit of resinous/piney character), plus, again, citric hops hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. There sure is some sweet malty base, but it comes out as quite neutral from a taste notes point of view and the beer has a bitter edge in both taste and aftertaste, with a dry finish. Balance is okay for the style, but the beer feels slightly rough around the edges. Quite dense bodied, perhaps a bit less than you'd expect for abv, with average carbonation; quite lively and relatively easy to drink for the abv. Nice one on the whole.

One of the many "ristopubs" of the Doppio Malto chain (not really a brewpub, as all the beer is made in the brewery proper). This one has a large room with a mezzanine and a big stained glass window; mainly wooden forniture in a modern ambiance. As with many of their restaurants, this one is located strategically near stadiums, main arteries, commercial centers etc... and works mostly as a gathering for families and friends who see the beer offering just as a plus. The beer offering is not that bad though. They usually have more or less 12 taps, with a kind of "standard" craftish offering (ipas and pales, a few lagers, 1/2 stouts, the ubiquitous wheat ale, a couple of spiced/flavoured ones). They're generally fine, though nothing special, with a few leaning a bit too much towards artificial pastriness though. Food is fine enough too, with a good range of offering (including burgers and pizza): all quite standardized as the beer is, but on the upper scale for chain food. Prices are very much honest for what you get. So, i wouldn't recommend it as a beer place per se, there are much better options in the area, but as they all open in the evening this would be your only (very much decent) option for a lunch+beer.

Plain golden coloured, moderately hazy but you can still see through it a bit. Average sized white head, shows quite good retention and lacing. The aroma turns out to be quite subdued, with soft maltiness (white bread notes) and honey taking the main stage, and just a hint of floral bitterness and citric (tangerine?) notes. Not bad, but the sweetness is sort of covering the hoppy notes. Taste feels brighter: again, soft maltiness with mainly white bread and a bit of hay, a quite strong honey note, delicate citric hints (still, a bit too much in the back for an ipa) and a bit of dry floral bitterness. Slightly on the sweet side in the mouth, good enough dryness and balance in finish/aftertaste. Feels fine in the overall balance and taste profile, though you'd expect a bit more hoppy notes presence in an ipa. Medium to slightly above medium bodied, average, light/fine bubbled carbonation, a fairly lively mouthfeel and fair drinkability for style/abv. An ok one on the whole.

Golden coloured, slightly pale, transparent. Gets quite good head size, shows good enough retention and nice lacing. A quite pleasant, delicate aroma: a bit of hay, delicate but fresh enough grassy notes, a floral hop touch, a lemonish hint. Taste notes more or less follow the aroma: maltiness feels pretty neutral, even per style and there's a slightly bitter finish that leaves a bit of dry floral hops reminiscence. Quite mild, maybe even for a german pils, perhaps a bit too mild. Quite light in body, carbonation is slightly below average and fine bubbled; a pretty classic, quite quaffable mouthfeel. A very much ok german pils on the whole, not particularly expressive.
