Visited with Grumbo Saturday early evening after a Ipswich thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday. Rather quirky, dark, dusty slim old style wooden pub with a range of 10 or so gravity casks, two which were their own beers all shown on a large blackboard. Friendly landlord with crazy prices of 50 pence per half pint as Town had won. Your best not to have too good a sense of smell if visiting the gents.

Only a brief stop with Grumbo, selection of cans & bottles, mix of local national & international to take away or drink in. Recently started pouring draft with a couple of taps. Certainly, a place I'd like to return too for a longer visit.

Historic & well restored listed pub on a cross roads which I visited with Grumbo on a quiet Sunday lunchtime. Serving 6 to 8 of their own cask beers plus other local tapped craft beers.

Modern looking craft bar & smoke house I visited with Grumbo on a quiet Sunday lunchtime. Choice of 6 cask options, half been their own, plus 16 keg choices, some their own, craft guests from local breweries & macro. Well worth trying the food with it living up to the interesting menu.

Victorian L shaped pub a pleasant 10 minute walk through the park from the train station. Also very close to the Orange Tree pub so worthy of a stop to try a Crouch Vale beer. Choice of 3 casks from them (including a porter) on a quiet March Sunday afternoon. Friendly landlady & customers.

Very close to the train station this B & K is certainly better than the average in the chain. The building it's set in is rather impressively grand with a central staircase. Lots of seating downstairs upstairs & outside on the terrace. The brewing vessels to the left & the bar straight ahead. Good range of beer styles across a number of their own cask & tapped beers with plenty of guest tapped & bottled options in the fridge. Food was very good both in quality & portion.

Chelmsford local brewery tap room set under the arches a 2 minute walk from the train station past the Ale House. Tap choices of 10 of their own plus 2 guests. Friendly barman. A place to revisit.

Next to the train station under the arches this was a busy sizeable bar even on a Sunday evening particularly with the younger crowd. Really good range & choices of cask ales, keg beers & real ciders. Happy to have choices in the stronger dark beers.
