Evil Twin can’t do much wrong in my opinion. This pint can was acquired from Half Time recently, now ready to taste. From the can tonight, that’s the way it is. I taste lots of hops, peaches, malt, hay, mangoes and cedar. Plenty of depth here, must be the high alcohol content. A nice bitterness concluding. I call this a rather good IPA, glad I got it.

I found this 12 oz can in the singles display at the nearest HEB supermarket. Curiously they had it at a price somewhat higher than comparable 16 oz IPAs from other breweries. Let us see if it is worth it. I’m using my New Belgium globe glass whose brewery is in the same town as Odell. The pour is a clear, shiny orange body with a persistent top of absolutely white foam. The scent is dominated by tropical fruit with some citrus and grain working into the mix. I get a surprising jolt of hops at the front end of the taste, a different direction from the nose. There’s also oranges, lime, malt, cantaloupe, and a medium bitterness. The label says this is a west coast DIPA, interesting. A fairly tasty brew in any case.

I purchased a 440 ml can at Be Hoppy in Madrid in April. The owner said this was a recent release from a brewery he likes. I’ve a tulip glass ready from ABGB in Austin that has survived the years. The appearance is a hazy pale yellow liquid with a moderate top of icy white foam that promptly settles. I smell topical and citrus both in plentiful amounts, grain and a hint of pine. A drink finally, geez, this is pretty fine and I’m not enraptured by the NE style of things. Mango, pineapple, enough grapefruit to just register, wheat, malt and a small hoppiness. The 10% abv is completely concealed. This is one tasty beer for a warm Texas summer late afternoon. Nice.

A pint on draft from the brewery, I was accompanied by Howie the corgi on a warm early summer afternoon. The serving was a clear yellow-gold liquid with a minute head of completely white foam. And the taste was in-line with your basic IPA. Pine, citrus, an acceptable amount of hoppiness and malt. I usually appreciate a more challenging beer more, not the case this time. The brewery has other offerings I like considerably more.
