This 12 oz can came from Mr. T's, my local beer joint. Severely out of date but the price was decent for a single. In my Buffalo Bayou tulip glass I determine a gold-orange liquid with a limited cover of almost white foam. The smell appears to be all right, pineapple, yellow fruit and a hint of mango. The taste is decent without being inspiring. Grapefruit, pineapple, grain, kiwi, a significant hops presence and the accompanying bitterness. I'm getting a good sensation of fullness. Yes, decent and improving as I drink.

12 oz can bought at an Albuquerque Total Wine recently. Second Street has evolved into our favorite Santa Fe brewery for both their Railway location and the beer they make. But this beer is a new one to me. I have a tulip glass from Great Heights receiving the pour this early evening. A hazy orange-yellow body with a skim of fully white foam. I take a sniff and get tropical fruit, citrus in the background, white bread and a small hoppiness. The taste follows. Mostly all right with some pineapple, plenty of malt, some grapefruit bitterness and maybe a hint of guava. But I am getting something going a bit awry, kind of a leathery, nutty thing. Fortunately as I drink the can down the issue declines. Oh well, glad I tried the beer. Plenty of others at the brewery to drink next time in New Mexico.

I located a tall boy can at a Total Wine in Albuquerque last week. Nice brewery, a recommended visit at their Railway location in Santa Fe. A Great Heights snifter is ready to catch the pour for this beer. A clear pale yellow in color with a nice and proper head of absolutely white foam. I smell grain, hops and a touch of citrus. The taste is actually quite decent in the style, more depth than expected. Lemons, hay, malt, a good bit of hops and bread. There is a small bitterness and an even smaller hint of sweetness. I will definitely purchase again next time in northern New Mexico.

I was happy to learn Founders was re-releasing DKML. The 2017 version was and is the best malt liquor I have tasted. And I do have some experience with the style, an attribute or a liability I am not sure. I found a four pack at a mom-and-pop liquor store in Santa Fe recently and have held off drinking one until I am ready to do a rating. The same taste as the original version? I have no idea what the plan is with the brewer. Meanwhile I have a 12 oz bottle significantly cooled off and ready to go into a glass. Very much your normal beer appearance, I see a clear gold with some red to it in the body and a slender skim of white foam that decreases to a ring around the glass. Plenty of carbonation. I smell grain, bit-of-honey candy and some barrel effect. And now a drink. I believe the taste is similar to what it was several years ago and this is a good thing of course. Grain, bourbon, a candy sweetness, malt, some oak and a small bitterness completing. The mouth feel is quite full, a lot of depth, well done in my opinion. This beer remains the best malt liquor of all time with number 2 way, way behind. Congrats to Founders for bringing this one back and not thinking they had to change it up. I call this a powerful, tasty, fulfilling beer. It was worth the wait.

Martin House in Ft. Worth is an interesting brewery, generates a wide spectrum of beers in many styles and some are world class. Back in the RB days there were a couple of people in the DFW area that generated a lot of reviews on Martin House beers along with myself. They did not come over. So now when I find a new MH beer, I am prepared to be the only one to rate it. Only two other Brewver raters in Texas from what I can determine, maybe three, this is a sad state of affairs. I move along now. 12 oz can found at the only real local beer shop and it was priced quite reasonably. Sometimes you win. A globe glass is waiting for the pour and so I do. I view a really dark brown liquid sporting a thin head of tan foam that quickly departs to just a ring around the glass. I take a sniff and I think it is good and also not so good. Dark chocolate, vanilla, grain and a perplexing metal entry. Rest easy, the taste is significantly better than the nose. Scorched toast, malt, chocolate, marshmallows, a hint of bananas and no bacon to be found anywhere. Considerably sweet but not horribly so. Decent enough, I have had many from the brewery that are better.
