Falling Into Place from Aurora Brewing Company (King Ferry, United States 🇺🇸)

A pint can that came from my last purchase at Half Time Beverages in NY. I can appreciate coconut added to an imperial stout, so let us see what Aurora does with this one. A globe glass arrayed, I tilt the cooled can inside of it. A thick, jet black body with an appropriate top of khaki tan foam that slowly settles to a cover. The nose is grain, chocolate malt and a hint of vanilla, not really inspiring. I take a drink and find that is an improvement somewhat over the scent. Coconut does show up to a limited degree, chocolate, caramel, bread dough, vanilla again and malt. The texture does not keep up with the appearance, thinner than expected. Not a bad stout but there was so much promise.

Another 16 oz can from a webshop I access at times. I’ve had a barleywine from the brewery that was rather all right so there is that. My snifter from unfortunately closed Buffalo Bayou is ready to go, I take the pour. I see an impenetrable, apricot colored body followed by healthy head of completely white foam. A pleasant enough smell with this beer, citrus, a light touch of hops, guava and meadow. Time to have a sample. Sweet initially but it it does not overwhelm, cedar to a small degree, peaches, enough grapefruit to present itself, white bread and pineapple. The sensation is creamy with an accompanying softness. Nice lacing. No indication of the moderately high abv. One of the best hazy IPAs I have tried recently.

My pint can came from Half Time Beverage in upstate NY. Very cold now, I pour into a chalice glass. The appearance is lemon-orange colored sporting a slim skim of fully white foam. I smell mostly citrus followed by hops and mangoes. A drink gives grapefruit, citrus again but tangerines breaking out, malt, pine and a small hops bitterness. Actually pretty good for a hazy IPA, not really my targeted style. Frost has proven to be a steady brewery in my estimation.

Pint can from Half Time and the brewery in front of that. Tulip glass ready, I pour. A cloudy orange body and a heroic head of white foam. I sniff and determine tropical up front, citrus and a touch of hops. I have a drink. Guava, some citrus, a hint of hoppy bitterness, grapefruit, pineapple and field. Pleasant enough, no breakout.

I unexpectedly found a 500 ml can at the Total Wine on Hulen St in Ft Worth early this summer. This will be my first Ukraine beer, glad to have it. As a nod to where I bought the beer, I will use my Cowtown snifter from Ft. Worth. The pour is a darkish amber-gold with a sparse skim of absolutely white foam. The nose is essentially your basic beer smell though bigger. I attribute that to the 12% abv. I have a drink, well, this is a decent beer. Grain, caramel, citrus mostly lemon and grapefruit, honey, hay and hellfire and damnation. And I get a barley wine effect too. This is a more complex beer than anticipated. I would buy if I saw it again, slim chance.

Pastry Factory - Espresso Quadrupel from Moersleutel Craft Brewery (Alkmaar, Netherlands 🇳🇱)

This 440 ml can was delivered by a steady Dutch retailer early this year. There is a cooling off for a brief period in the summer in my area so I believe it is time to sample a quadrupel. The pour into a Delirium snifter is a mahogany brown liquid with a sparse ring of tawny tan foam. Lift the glass for a sniff and get coffee initially and then grain along with a touch of chocolate. Then a drink. Well, this beer is a pleasant surprise and there is more than 14 oz of it. Caramel, espresso as they want to call it, malt, berries, wheat bread and chocolate again. A pastry stout sweetness but it does not overwhelm fortunately. All over the map with the tastes but I am not a quadrupel purist, this is an interesting brew.
