Iznogud Profile

Finally I got to visit Beerlovers. Pretty big and neat store with hundreds of beers. Plenty of different styles and beers from all around. However the selection seems somehow stuck back in time. Stuff you don't get to see anymore that much, but it's also missing newer relevant beers. Obvious reason for this are the prices which are quite high. In the end I couldn't decide to pull the trigger on anything so walked out empty handed.

Basement bar/club which seems to be popular with the younger people. Was quite busy at 10 pm. Beer wise they're focused on Austrian microbreweries and occasional Belgian classic. About 5 taps and 30-40 beers in bottle. Interesting enough to come here for a beer although it's not a place focused around beer.

Bit tucked in away from the busy streets. Cavernous interior is somewhere between pub and a restaurant. 3 of Kolar beers on tap which I suspect are made by Schwechater. Pils and Zwickl were very good, fantastic condition and clean in style beers. Dunkel was good. This showed like a surprisingly good stop, but of course leaves much to be desired for beer geek looking for variety.

Short visit on our Vienna crawl. Looking at the old photos seems interior was refurbished giving it a modern touch. 6 of their beer on tap, quality wise nothing too exciting. Good enough for a quick stop and some ticks, wouldn't bother with more than that.

On tap at Kolar. Dark brown with beige head. Sweet, some bread, caramel, light dried fruit. Moderate sweetness. Medium bodied.

Clear golden with medium white head. Malty, grainy, bit grassy, some bitterness in finish. Great easy drinking, clean pilsner. Nice bitterish finish.

On tap at Kolar. Cloudy golden with medium white head. Light floral notes, easy drinkable, bit grainy, nice bitter finish, very nice.

Bottle, 330 ml shared at the charity tasting. Dark brown with beige head. Caramel, chocolate, some honey, sweetish, touch of bourbon. Medium+ bodied.
