On tap at Gallows Bird - Tapiola, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of spicy rye, bready malt, and black liquorice. Flavour has plenty of black liquorice, medium roast, and some earthiness. Nice malt profile but not hugely deep. Good.

On tap at Gallows Bird - Tapiola, pours a fairly clear dull golden with a small white head. Aroma is very musty, with armpits, earthly hops, and dull bready malt. Flavour has a poor expression, with armpits, cardboard, bready malt, and mustiness. Terrible hop expression. I’d guess this was a year old if I knew it wasn’t fresh.

On tap at Gallows Bird - Tapiola, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of saline, lots of floral notes from the elderflower, and a touch of lacto. Flavour is salty, with tons of saline dominating, with the elderflower taking a backseat. Pleasant enough but I want more elderflower.

On tap at Villi Wäinö, pours a cloudy golden with a large white head. Aroma has plenty of allium, citrus hops, and bready malt. Flavour has plenty of citrusy hops, allium, and light bready notes. Not too chalky, just a strange hop expression. Meh.

On tap at Villi Wäinö, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a large beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, a touch of vanilla, and bready malt. Flavour is dry, with lots of bready malt, toasted bread, and a touch of vanilla. Very dry, with a bready finish. Good.

On tap at Villi Wäinö, pours a clear amber with a medium beige head. Aroma has some resinous hops, light pine, and dry bready malt. Flavour is quite bitter, with lots of bitter pine, some resins, and bready malt. Bitter and yet pretty balanced. Good.

330mL bottle at Villi Wäinö, pours a cloudy dark red with a small beige head. Aroma is abrasive and cockamamie, with juniper berries, glue, weird yeast, and alcohol—man is this chaotic. Flavour is chaotic, with wood glue, alcohol, and messed up yeastiness. Something terribly wrong here that I couldn’t begin to guess the source of. Bad.
