Tap at the brewpub. Murky golden body, off-white head. Stale diacetyl mixing with bananas and vanilla in the aroma, ugh... Creamy taste, mildly citric, some banana, some wheaty malty notes, smooth, mild vanilla, ending dryish, no hops but it's no biggie. Shame about the aroma (taps?), okay otherwise.

Another well overdue visit... I've been eyeing visiting Parovar for years, but it never worked out - until now. Parovar is basically a tiny brewery located at the brewer's family house, in the suburban town/overgrown village of Rudná.

If I don't misremember, a homebrewer gone official, Mr. Rokoš's doing heaps of one-offs and specials (all are different to a point?), steam-powered ostensibly, and with a tiny, odd distribution. The brewery is basically for on-site sales only, though you can buy kegs (and maaaybe rent taps?) if that's your thing. The friendly, pleasant brewer greets you after the ring, and leads you to the garage, with a fridge with 10+ different beers. Got less than I would normally as my fridge's full, but I might just return next week for the ticks. Fantastic prices, 70 for 0.7l if I'm not mistaken, shame 3/3 showed at least light signs of oxidation. And that's it. Nothing else to do, pay and go. Can't score high, but it's a fun visit and the beers are rare, hah.

How to get here: Well, several options. The most comfortable one is taking a 15 minute drive with 308 or 311 from Zličín (end of the yellow metro line) to Rudna, V Brance, go forward and left to Na Výsluní until you hit the place. Alternatively, take 307, 358, 380 (that one you can take from Nemocnice Motol, end of the green line) to Rudna, Škola, cross the street and move on until you can turn left into Mládeže, around the Hussite church area, then turn right to NV (the second street). The best option from the center might be taking the S6 to Nučice (not Rudná!), continue forward until you turn to V Brance, and NV will again be the second to the right (oh and check google walk in the station area... aren't you lucky it isn't 2012).

Tap at Beergeek Bar. Black-brown body, off-white head. Alcohol hits and strikes in the aroma, but so does coffee and some prunes. Smooth taste taste, licorice, coffee, light roast, lighter chocolate, low prunes, some herbal hoppy notes. Very nice, but needs warming!

Tap at Beergeek Bar. Hazy pale yellow body, didn't note the head. Huge dill presence in the aroma, heading towards curry. Lean, dry taste, curry, mango, light dill. Really fun!
