Single from Appalachian, $4.67, no date.

Vanilla, sweet potato pie, soft maple, milky custard nose.
Maple flavor is gentle but obvious. Middling nutty roast, cooked down lactose, very slight acidity, sweet Amaretto lingers.
Thin, somewhat fizzy, low abv feels.

Very nice warmer.

Single via Appalachian. Canned 11/05/25, so barely a month old. Pint glass during Friday Night Chats.

Brown ale, not much head.
Marshmallow & itchy rye nose, pretty good.
Thin, caramelized, rice sweetness, a little cola, very weak clove. Some acidity, faint lemon, medium char.
Very low carb, sticky but almost no residual body, a twinge of booziness.

Okay-ish.

Single from Appalachian. Pint glass at home during Friday night beer chats. Didn't know till after, that this was a smoked hop, not malt.

Clear, thin, pale gold, good soapy head, slow to recede.
Slightly sharp & thin. Strongly smoked beechwood nose; sweet oats.
Beechwood, green veg smoke, more smoke than anticipated, slight plastic, herbal, dusty. Black pepper & subtle sweetness on the tail.

Okay.

This is the OG location right next to Maga Ben's Tune Up. Been here a bunch before covid but rarely since.

Small L-shaped bar ten feet into the door within view of the tanks. Outdoor seating facing the curb. Open air when it's warm, garage door in the winter. Small take away fridge on the right. Couple dozen taps, the usual flagships, the usual prices, but this is also their small batch place, so you can see sours, specials Italian-shaped bottles for take-home occasionally. They also like talking about the beer here, if you get a cliche beared bartender in flanel. No buy backs, but chains won't ever do that.

The neighborhood sucks with the homeless shelter down the block, the closed Hot Spot for takeaway, & the dipshits that usually go to Ben's, but it's one of the few Hi-Wire locations that doesn't look so cookie cutter.

Single for $5.22 via Appalachian. Stamped "03 November 2025 Sunshine And Rainbows". Lo-ball at home.

Pale gold pour, a touch too pale. Voluminous egg white head; Sticky lace.
Scent is mellow grapefruit & savory herbs with a bit of new age onion hop.
Candied grapefruit that's kinda astringent, bittergreen, black pepper, taste is very consistent but lacks that second major note. Feels low-cal.
Juicy & super thin, hidden abv.

This is more like a Cold IPA with WCIPA vibes.
