Oluthuone Haka is one of Helsinki’s newer beer bars. Take the metro and get off at Hakaniemi station. If you manage to choose the correct exit, you’ll be almost right next to Haka.

It’s a street-level bar with a warm but modern interior. There are 20 taps featuring Finnish craft beers as well as international options, including American craft beers.

The service is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasantly relaxed in the early evening. I plan to visit often whenever I have time to take the metro here.

The taproom was located in a red-brick office building in a fairly quiet area. It’s just a little over 500 meters from the railway station. As soon as you walk in, there’s a small bar counter. Usually, there were about six taps of their own beers available. Serving sizes start from 10 cl.

There are more beers in the fridge, which you can also buy to take away. The brewery typically has around a dozen beers in its selection. The atmosphere during my visits has been calm, even somewhat laid-back. The service was friendly, usually by owner himself.

Based on Google Maps, it was a bit tricky to find the place. It didn’t quite manage to guide you correctly along the busy Highway 3. The location is a taproom attached to a brewery in an industrial area.

There is plenty of parking available outside. It gives very strong American vibes—there are lots of small industrial-area taprooms like this in the United States, but fewer similar ones in Finland.

The atmosphere is cozy, the service is good, and there are also good pizzas available. Unfortunately, the beers are only moderately good at best.

A small, dark taproom along Tampere’s main street. It has a slightly heavy metal “cave-like” vibe.

There were usually a few of Mad Finn’s own beers on tap, along with products from other breweries. More Mad Finn beers were available in cans.

The service was fairly standard and didn’t particularly stand out in a positive way. The place had a very low-key feel overall—an okay spot to drop in for a Mad Finn tick, but nothing especially memorable.

Maltti is a small brewery owned by the large Hartwall company, located inside the Nokia Arena. Nokia Arena is about a five-minute walk from the railway station. Outside of ice hockey games and other events, entry is only possible through a single door.

This is a lobby bar, so seating is located in the arena’s entrance hall. Along the back wall there is a fairly long bar counter, and opposite it you can see the brewery’s copper-toned tanks.

Maltti’s own beers are usually available in at least 5–6 varieties, along with some seasonal beers and rotating selections. The quality is moderate—what you might expect from “craft-style” beers produced by a macro brewery. No standout top-tier examples have come across in my experience.

It’s worth noting that it may be closed during the summer.

Atmos Brewing is essentially the successor to Tampere Brewing & Distilling Co. It’s the same location, similar beers, but with different owners and now also a new brewer.

The taproom is located in a red-brick office building in a fairly quiet area. It’s just a little over 500 meters from the railway station. As soon as you walk in, there’s a small bar counter. Usually, there are about six taps of their own beers available. Serving sizes start from 10 cl.

There are more beers in the fridge, which you can also buy to take away. The brewery typically has around a dozen beers in its selection. The atmosphere during my visits has been calm, even somewhat laid-back. The service has been professional.

If you haven’t bought Atmos beers from grocery stores, it’s worth stopping by every now and then. The quality of the beers varies.
