The late 19th century interior – not sure how much of it is original and the glass terrace is gorgeous. If you like art noveaux this is super pretty. The tap list seems to be souced mainly by what is cheap with Leroy, Castelein, Wilderen etc. It’s a funny taplist, they also have the trappist classics. The venue itself and the look is the primary draw, order at the bar only and cash preferred which is funny in NL.

Repurposed church, which is a cool concept but the red paint, music etc. made it all seem a bit tacky to me. Quite busy, two stories and big terrace outside. Order at the bar or via a QR system which wasn’t working. 20 taps or so including a cocktail, big range of their beers, plenty of variation and some bottles, okay prices. Not all of their beers are great but these days they’re better than Uiltje. Seemed to be vegan options but google reviews were no comforting. There is a shop but with no visible pricing for a bunch of stouts, it was a bit confusing. It’s a no brainer visit in Haarlem.

gave a cheers!

Located in Flevopark, the location is just amazing. Gorgeous historical building, big terrace overlooking a lake, trees outside, almost hard to imagine a prettier taproom. This is primarily a distillery but the owners as the same as Proeflokaal 't Kelkje. This means that you have also 4 taps of German lager (Rothaus, Keesmann, Kundmüller etc.) Tried some of the jenever’s which were quite good. Prices for beer is not that cheap but it’s Amsterdam etc. Essential for the location, terrace and if you like lager and/or jenever.

Quite a charming and friendly neighborhood bar. 10 taps or so, focus more on Amsterdam breweries with a house beer by Krux which was decent. Outside of the local selection some macro, quality is a bit dependent on said breweries, okay and same for prices. It’s a nice bar if you’re in the area but definitely not essential.

The park is a nice one and all the old industrial buildings with bars, restaurants etc. in them look great and the atmosphere is great. We sat on the lovely terrace, QR ordering system worked quite well for a change. I didn’t find the beer all that good or interesting so the big value for me is the location etc. The vegan bitterballen were quite nice, prices are Amsterdam but I would expect a tad lower at the location but that is not the case. All taps their own, mainly worth it for the location.

Beautiful old venue near the church with a lovely terrace which was full, we sat in the back. There are some really cool decorations here, the tap handle is crazy for one. Only one person working, the place was super understaffed. The tap selection was about 10 beers and not that interesting with De Koninck, Weihenstephaner, Brand etc. The one more special beer was out, great terrace and interior but a rather disappointing selection.

The brick and dark wood interior going deep is quite nice. It was quite warm and we sat on the terrace, which was quite pleasant too, visited shortly before last call. Untappd verified with 32 taps of which 13 are their own. Uiltje used to be one the best breweries in the Netherlands but how mighty the great have fallen. 13 taps of their almost all of them core range, no RIS, hoppy beers a ghost of formerly, no specials in cans, it seems like they have abandoned the RIS / specials game? The guest taps are a bit more interesting with Northern Monk, Moersleutel (still going strong), Vault city but also Brand Pilsner and Guinness. For this many taps, the selection was not really that interesting, it seems like little interesting is left of the brand these days, shame. Jopen is actually more interesting these days crazy enough. Having an anti vegan pizza (which is only salami, why not loads of meat or a vegan one with 1 non-vegan ingredient?) puts them into edgelord territory.

In the heart of touristic Amsterdam with the usual patrons who are exhausting and not far from the Chinese district. We found “Old Nicle” strangely deserted so maybe the crowd is more late night. Upstairs there is a hotel apparently to which this bar belongs. The bar is decorated by pieces of an 17th century ship it seems and strikes a curious mix between a classical Dutch and British bar. Red leather and old lamps are quite curious too but it felt all a bit tourist trap. Beer selection is macro, big Belgian brands and La Trappe. La Trappe tripel on tap being the most interesting one and prices slightly above the already high Amsterdam prices. I enjoyed Proeflokaal de Ooievaar around the corner far more.

Located in a gorgeous two-story spacious building in Amsterdam Oost dating back to the late 19th century. Big terrace outside with a view on the canal, terrace is lovely as is the view. Pitcher and shot promos available on certain days which might explain the hangover themed items on the menu. We didn’t try the food since snacks start only at 12 and we were quite early, vegan options available. 12 taps or so of which 11 are fixed and rotating specials called “The Poetry of Hangovers” continuing the theme. The pilsner is location only and sweet and not that good, bulk of the menu is session, pale, low ABV stout and kettle sour. The beers are not good but drinkable which puts this place squarely into amazing terrace, great location and poor beer seemingly meant to be too accessible. You can order by a QR system on your table but that only works with a Dutch card.
