Quite central, quite old with a crazy amount of taxidermy, nicknacks, decorations and everything else. Quite a few taps but got an Ur-hop and wound up with an Gulpener IPA, they hadn’t an IPA jenever - asked about it and got told it tastes different, okay, looked it up - distilled Oersoep Gaia. Quite expensive too, locals present, interesting but a one time affair.

Quite similar to Oosterling around the corner, old fashioned bar with mainly tourists but charming with quick service. Brand, Amstel, IJ, beer doesn’t get much more interesting than Trappist, boozy bigger brand Belgians but charming, had some Bols, Krom down the street is another cool one if you’re looking for old fashioned places.

Fairly large traditional bar with seating by the canal and a nice area in the back with books. For me not as pretty as other old bars and in parts just old. Sizeable food menu. Lots of taps but it’s mostly Palm, Homeland, bigger breweries long past prime and one house beer. Lots of beer but almost pressed to find anything interesting. There are other places more satisfying as an old bar.

Smaller place, old fashioned and brown with old time music, good service. Dutch pilsner on tap that I haven’t seen before, Buxton, Dochter van de Korenaar, Uiltje. Big list not all interesting but nice selection of longer existing breweries, more traditional breweries and pleasant terrace. Quality more old fashioned place.

Central with a big terrace and right across De Welkom. Very friendly service, old fashioned minimal interior. Saison Dupont in excellent condition on tap, Verzet, Dok and Cristal. Nice Latin music playing, good and interesting house shot and interesting well-priced menu of cocktails etc. Beer menu is a bit longer than expected with some local surprises. Overall just a very cool place.

Very central and extremely touristy. Enthousiast staff despite the pressure, big terrace and indeed tiny cute bar with gimmicky blue tiles. Beer selection is Haacht which is just garbage and some big brands. Enjoyed it more than expected but Haacht selection and everything is nothing to get excited about it. I won’t frequent it again. Seems to be called Galgenhuis now.
