Located centrally in an alleyway with a prime location near the water with more limited spots. Everyone was seated on the terrace which was the prime location. Inside (far smaller) looked quite traditional, dark brown wood lovely too. More solid tap list than expected with 3 Fonteinen, Vicaris, Verzet, De La Senne, Lupulus etc. Quite a few taps, big bottle list but a touch more mainstream, plenty of snack options, weird amount of merch from Martha Sexy Beer, quite a pleasant and rightfully popular spot.

Cafe Manger (Mortsel, Belgium 🇧🇪)

Locals present which is logical given that not many will make a dedicated trip to Mortsel. 6 taps including local brew firm Kamil (not seen elsewhere), Chimay, De Rank, Bavik as pils. Quite a solid selection, TV with sports on, relaxed atmosphere. Outside board says 50 beers on bottle available, saw less on the board but didn’t inquire, saw some Kamil listed for one. Got a royal portion of chips with my beer, prices are quite fair once you realize pours come in 33 cl. Vegan food available too, didn’t try, basic pub food. I haven’t been to every place in Mortsel but this must be the best bar selection for a bar in the neighborhood.

Webshop but also a physical location by appointment only. You can participate in a guided tasting or browse on location. We hit him up on Instagram and he replied quickly and opened for us. One half of the shop is lambiek, loads and loads of stuff including way less common beers (loads of Eylenbosch, Kerstemont for on). Very well picked and he knows a lot about everything. Other half is classical trappists, strong beers and Oud Bruin. Amazing looking place, cool place to try some beers and he’s expanding into vintage beers too. Very friendly and we got two free bottles (both good too). Given everything it’s not cheap but the pricing is also reasonable.

Formerly Monk, lots has been written and said about the takeover. Th place has ben cleaned up without much changing, Belgoo housebeer now which is okay. Love how the interior looks now, beer menu seems largely the same with Dupont, De La Senne, Chimay etc. In the back there is the restaurant with spaghetti now, vegan options now as well, quit enjoyed mine and actually bit cheaper than the non-vegan for a chang, scaled down menu for beer in the restaurant but you can take your glasses with you. Personally, this feels like an improvement for me but not everyone will agree.

Located right next to the brewery. Lovely terrace and quite good interior. Lots of advertising for coffee which I didn’t try, pies, cake including vegan and friendly service. It’s bit mor of a lunchroom, coffee place rather than a bar I would say. Cabardouche doesn’t focus on geeks and this is not a beer centric place, should try the coffee at some point. Thy have their pilsner and one more on tap and one or two specials. Nice place but just not a beer place and beer felt almost an afterthought which is funny for a taproom.

Centrum Brussels located, a comfy place with some artificial flowers, small tables and wood. Quite personal and pleasantly informal service. Not many bars which do cocktails, do custom cocktails anymore these days, we got two and they were quite good. Lambiek, cocktails and spirit menu with well chosen selection. Well chosen doesn’t mean rare for lambiek here but that is not a criterium for me personal. My partner quite enjoyed it, I see myself returning. Great addition to the area.
