Metal / rock bar by the name but awful pop rock choice, Queen, Bon Jovi etc. The decorations and everything felt too cheesy and bit cringe to me. Slightly lived in, macro beer with two taps of Ægir, bit of a dud visit for us, not my thing.

Possibly the best brewery in the country right now, slightly out of the way but not by much. Twenty taps with good variety by local standards, everything we tried was quality, very cool architecture, stayed past closing and talked to some lovely locals, good atmosphere, they have a music stage too. Friendly service. Loads of selection to go in the fridges, pretty much all one can hope from a brewpub, loads of space too.

Corner bar in the peak center next to rainbow street, bit below street level. Traditional Icelandic food available. Cozy and slightly worn down in a good way, 8 taps, some quite interesting styles, bit touristic, nice decorations, bit DIY. I quite dug their beers, quite a decent, solid mid-level quality brewery. I generally enjoyed all the beers I tried for them, fun spot.

Visited on a calm moment, one interesting local and an American couple where the wife acted like she was being poisoned by being given tap water when she asked for water. Untappd verified, 16 taps all Gæðingur (this is their bar), flights available, happy hour discount on pilsner and one selected beer, one of the better breweries in the country and some quite interesting beers too, flights of Eimverk distillates available too. Bit of a modern non-descript place, worthwhile stop to try their beers, you can find them elsewhere too.

We hit the jackpot by visiting this on a Friday evening, there was a huge line to order before us, loads of people getting cocktails, everyone dressed up, all locals, people finishing up their pizza. We were wondering what was happening at was party bingo time! Bingo with a DJ, all bad Spanish tourist party music mixed with techno beats, all the prizes were alcohol, and the audience went wild. Chug off if two people got simultaneously bingo and someone poured a shot into my moth at one point, some middle-aged people dancing in the room next door with shuffle boards and darts before bingo, interesting ceiling paintings too. Peak Icelandic entertainment. Perfect scores for entertainment, all the common Einstök beers otherwise and Viking, the party moved on once bingo was finished. Spain by Iceland.

We didn’t check out the others, but this must be the big one. Located in a shopping mall with a big Haugkap with an interesting selection. The beer is in a walkin fridge, about as a big of a selection of Icelandic beers and liquors you’re probably going to get at stupid opening hours and some impressive imports even but there is no way you’re going to get those, friend did get a Faroe tick, Föroya Bjór obviously and not OY. They had Lava and Borg RIS at doable prices. The deal is what is in this country.

Full of Americans, including a few telling each other the joys of meeting people from other countries. I have been told locals also frequent it. Einstök, Húsavík and macro beer on tap, very popular and busy, vegan food available, didn’t try, did enjoy the hotdogs down the street. Not our type of bar, you can do laundry here and we stayed here. As a hostel it’s hilariously badly isolated with music somehow louder above than in the bar from 07.00 to 01.00 and street noise in between, theoretically bad but very cheap by Icelandic standard and good price internationally even, nice change from sleeping in a cramped non-heated van on isolation material.

Basement bar with a slightly mad owner in a good way, locals and a pleasantly mad British traveling bartender, restaurant and pool table upstairs. Turquoise, red and pink odd but fitting interior. Tap is macro, Einstök and one Borg, there is also a wheel to spin for 3500 isk which may be rigged, we got 4 shots of Opal which is vile but great deal in Iceland. Not the most impressive tap list but not that many options in town and we dug the vibes.
