We didn’t check out the others, but this must be the big one. Located in a shopping mall with a big Haugkap with an interesting selection. The beer is in a walkin fridge, about as a big of a selection of Icelandic beers and liquors you’re probably going to get at stupid opening hours and some impressive imports even but there is no way you’re going to get those, friend did get a Faroe tick, Föroya Bjór obviously and not OY. They had Lava and Borg RIS at doable prices. The deal is what is in this country.

Full of Americans, including a few telling each other the joys of meeting people from other countries. I have been told locals also frequent it. Einstök, Húsavík and macro beer on tap, very popular and busy, vegan food available, didn’t try, did enjoy the hotdogs down the street. Not our type of bar, you can do laundry here and we stayed here. As a hostel it’s hilariously badly isolated with music somehow louder above than in the bar from 07.00 to 01.00 and street noise in between, theoretically bad but very cheap by Icelandic standard and good price internationally even, nice change from sleeping in a cramped non-heated van on isolation material.

Basement bar with a slightly mad owner in a good way, locals and a pleasantly mad British traveling bartender, restaurant and pool table upstairs. Turquoise, red and pink odd but fitting interior. Tap is macro, Einstök and one Borg, there is also a wheel to spin for 3500 isk which may be rigged, we got 4 shots of Opal which is vile but great deal in Iceland. Not the most impressive tap list but not that many options in town and we dug the vibes.

Americans as far the eye can see in contrast to some other places in town. This should be the spot in theory with the most craft, most of its Borg plus some Kaldi and macro but we lucked out with both beers we ordered. One of them a sour, I got warned twice about it being sour only to get a beer I would classify as being sweet, fine for a regular bar but bit odd for a place marketed as craft focused. I expected more and it didn’t hit the level of places in Reykjavik.

It’s a gift shop next to some fancier hotels and some sights. This place had the only non-biting midges we noticed when travelling, biblical stuff, thank god they don’t bite but you will wind up swallowing some. They sell mainly coffee, souvenirs and good bread too apparently, but we made it here with only 1 minute to spare before closing but still got served which is lovely. There is a place to sit at the back and they had about 4 beers or so, 1300 isk, standard for drinking there but definitely very expensive for take-out. The beer itself was okay, them having a brewery seems like an afterthought, they existed long before having one. It’s an interesting place tick but not worth detouring for, Dimmuborgir was the effort for sure and is not that far.

More beers from Muli than Astri and one other brewery, few Icelandic places seemed to encompass multiple brands at once. Price flag flying outside, normal in Reykjavik but less outside it seems, nice to see. Modern and slick with a tv showing Icelandic landscapes, audience is unsurprisingly all tourists, very friendly service. Beer outside of Reykjavik was not good in general but the beers here featured interesting ingredients and were decent at least, best outside of the capital probably, region definitely. You can get pizzas from the place next door, two vegan options, got a different one than ordered but no regrets, decent crust but the arugula, peanut, date, cheese etc. toppings were awesome. Prices are Icelandic.

Located next to Rebelgian-Pub, we sat here but ordered beers from there, not sure if this is the common situation. Rebelgian-Pub has all the interesting stuff, this is very much mainstream boozy Belgians in a non-descript Dutch setting. Food portions seemed sizable, much added by the extra menu since the menu here is quite generic and uninteresting.

Americans as far as the eye can see, darts upstairs and free bird playing when we arrived. Only two of their beers on tap and neither all that impressive and bit more of a restaurant.

Absolute centre, cocktail place look and feel and a bit too slick- bartender recommended us the wee heavy which was pleasant, not the greatest of breweries and their beer is everywhere but an okay stop.
