Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying tan and light brown head. Aroma of canella, chocolate, deep malts, molasses, pitted fruits, figs, earth, grain and a dash of alcohol with some spice notes and a super deep yeast and bready bite, but the complexity in the nose is strong. Full-bodied; Super rich malts with molasses, syrup, treacle, raisins, figs, earth and a lot of rustic nuttiness showing some chocolate and grain and pungent astringencies along with a deep sweet finish that has some vanilla and a lot of anise, licorice and allspice near the very end, but deep throughout. Aftertaste shows the deep and robust spice notes with a ton of sweetness at the end, but the complexities from the caramlised sugars, raisins, toffee, earth and treacle that somehow merges these very well and has a great complexity, but shows the alcohol, which makes sense, given it's high ABV. Overall, a very nice and rich quadruple with a good yeast and bready kick that shows some yeast complexities and dryness, but a smooth Belgian characteristic that couples well with the pungent and plentiful spices and sweetness. Great to sample and I believe the 3+ years since purchase has done very well, and while I'm curious on what another three would do to this, I only have the one and now seems to be a great time to drink this, and while it still shows some astringency and alcohol, it isn't overpowering or offputting. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Corner Store, Bait & Tackle in West Palm Beach, Florida on 26-December-2017 for US$5,59, which was packaged on 02-June-2017, after arriving at the airport after President Trump was celebrating his first Christmas in office with the jet there, sampled at my house here in Washington near the White House where President Biden was just inaugurated on 22-January-2021.

The Aromas are dark malt, a little bit of roast, and the hint of root beer. Appearance had a very fizzy short-lived head on a dark colored beer. The finer qualities of this beer as advertised don't really come through. I get some molasses bit of burnt sugar a little spice and boredom.

12 ounce bottle. Cola brown color. Small creamy beige head disappears quickly. Sweet toasted malt nose. Notes of cinnamon, brown sugar and oranges. Big boozy, sugary sweet malt flavor. Cinnamon, nutmeg and orange peel. Candylike and sticky. Overly sweet.

Tap, hehehe hhheh, at patricks pub, what a blast. A darker brown brew. Mouth coating. Somewhat rude and in yer face volatile almost barley wine experience. Big & bad. Quite as alky impact. Reminds me fer sure of barley wines that need to be aged for civility. Yes, be dizzying effects. Medicinal at times. In the end, almost evokes the gag reflex if not for the alky content.

Dark amber brown at the brewery, served in a tulip. An overspiced beer if there ever was one. Finish is an unpleasant bitter that lingers long unfortunately.

12 oz bottle from Tavour. Nose is super malty, vanilla, butterscotch, bubblegum, and cinnamon. Lightly hazy rusty red with a medium cinnamon frosted, beige head. Flavor is moderately sweet candi sugar with a hint of bitter and a lot of almost pumpkin pie spicyness and only a little alcohol warmth.

12 ounce bottle. Dark brown, thin fizzy tan head, poor retention. Aroma of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses. The taste is vanilla, maple, cinnamon, spice, apple-ish fruitiness, booze. Kinda thin, very hot. Solid.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/5/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red/light copper/brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense light khaki head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin ring of lace eventually. Minimal lacing on the glass, some slight streaming carbonation. Good appearance. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, date, caramel, brown sugar, orange peel, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, toffee, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of cocoa, smoke, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts, spices, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, date, caramel, brown sugar, orange peel, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, toffee, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of cocoa, smoke, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal, spice, and roasted bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar, orange peel, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, toffee, toasted brown bread, light cocoa/smoke, and herbal/yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, spices, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly slick/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Light-moderate warmth of 11.1% lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent spiced American strong ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, spices, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. Pretty much perfectly balanced malt and spice complexity; with nice levels of fruity yeast notes, that are never overwhelming. A really enjoyable offering.
