Had enough winter? We have! It’s spring time in the brewery with our Hampsha Heffe, an American wheat beer. The beer crushes the beach, pool side, on the river or lake and, dare we say, while mowing the lawn. Light straw in color and slightly sweet, this beer is made with 50% wheat. Gentle hop additions make for a smooth tart finish that is refreshing like a cool sports drink on a hot day! Unlike German wheat beers, we use an American yeast so there are no banana/clove flavors that are typical of the German style. We offer it with a lemon wedge in the tasting room.

Flavor is more of an American wheat ale as opposed to a German Hefeweizen. (Which is I was expecting from the name) Flavor is bready malt, lemon, honey like nuance. More citrus then anything. The name is a misnomer as far as the style goes.

16oz can from Bert's Hazy yellow color with a small wispy wit head that dissipates quickly. Earthy spicy light bready malt on the nose. Tart lemony flavor bitter caramel or butterscotch mixed into the earthy spicy with a bit of astringency. Where is the banana, where is the clove, where is the hefe? Call it an American wheat if you want but clean up the off flavors.

Can courtesy of AirForceHops, thanks! Cloudy yellow color medium white head. Big citrus aroma. Taste is mostly citrus, light bubblegum. Nice summer beer.

Lightly-to-moderately cloudy, straw-golden with a sizable white head atop showing moderate retention.
Crisp, grainy, cereal-like wheat with soft pepper and apple. Honey and white pepper linger on the end. Esters and phenols are a little more pronounced but only on account of the highly attenuated malt. Clean and with no alcohol or any clove.
In the mouth it's light and dry with grain and soft wheat. Bubble gum, peach, apple and light honey with more white pepper lingering. Moderate to strong carbonation. Fairly polished, nicely attenuated and somewhat unremarkable but quite drinkable. Just as an American wheat should be.
