Russian pale lager, a difficult one to identify here as usual with (industrial) beers with labels in Cyrillic alphabet, but everything corresponds so it must be this one - apart from the subtitles, with on my bottle read "ПИВО СВЕТЛОЕ", which apparently means nothing more than "light beer". Medium thick, snow white, regular, lightly lacing head, quickly breaking in the middle but retaining well around the edge, over a cristal clear, pale but very slightly 'old gold'-hued, fizzless beer. Aroma of soggy chicken corn, old popcorn, freshly ironed cloth, old rubber, kitchen towels, wet paper, a faint hint of grass and industrial tea and that is about it. Sweetish and sourish, sweaty graininess in the mouth, bit oily but otherwise thin and watery, very rice-like even if the label doesn't state rice but only barley malt, raw barley and malt extract, notable sourishness underneath (like old soggy rice indeed), simple with minerally accents, ironed cloth-like aspect retronasally, plastic-like impressions, watery finish simply continuing the (especially sourish aspect of) graininess without adding any hop bitterness worth mentioning, though a very vague grassy touch is there somewhere. Remains utterly simple, bland, plastic-ish, cereally and straightforward, I guess this quenches the thirst if consumed ice cold from the bottle but otherwise this is yet another unpleasant and industrial macro lager not worth mentioning. That plastic-like note kept bothering me as well as that underlying grainy sourishness so I did not even manage to finish this - let the sink have it. Below par even for an utterly cheap, Russian, industrial pale lager. I guess the romantic depiction of an Oktoberfest-like, voluptuous blonde wench helps, but very clearly this is about the opposite of the greatness beer can achieve when taken seriously.

1l can with 4.5% ABV. Clear orange pour, virtually no head at all. No lacing either. Generic sweet and malty lager nose. Thin body, watery texture. Regular carbonation. Watery, thin and generic. Some malt sweetness, little to no bitterness. Aroma quite poor. Malts, grains, corn. Grassy. A bit of hay. Quite mild all together. No finish to speak of, slightly sweet aftertaste. Overall, meh. Boring and very generic macro lager. Beer for the masses.

Can, 1.00l, shared with colleagues. Clear pale golden color with thin frothy white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of cereals, adjuncts, cardboard and grass. Tastes mild sweet grainy, grassy and vegetably, while finish is unpleasantly mild bitter. Light body, watery texture and average carbonation in palate. Drain pour...

50cl can from Mego, Valmiera. Pours clear pale golden with a modest, white head. Grainy, sweaty aroma with some unpleasant chemical notes, hints of ripe apples and cooked vegetables. Moderate to medium sweet with fairly mild but also rather unpleasant flavours. Not much bitterness to speak of. Quite horrible, really. Really wonder why it’s in my glass and not in the sink or in the toilet? --- Beer merged from original tick of Zhigulevskoe Firmennoe Zhivoe (Жигулевское Фирменное Живое) on 25 Aug 2016 at 22:20 - Score: 1
