Bottiglia.

Appearance: clear chestnut brown with a moderate ivory-coloured head of medium retention. Aroma: toast, bread, nail polish, treacle, distant alcohol. Taste: light sweet, low bitterness. Toast, treacle, chocolate, rum, some esters. A hint of hop. Mouth feel: light to medium body, average carbonation. Overall: strange and not great.

Bottle. Darker chestnut brown, medium small beige head, not lssting. Gentle biscuity malty nose, some caramel notes. Milder sweetness, a bit biscuity, some hints of bitterness. Just slightly metallic. Light.

Mix Markt Hůrka. Y so Tula I guess. Murky ruby red body, brownish, creamy, thick off white head. Rye bread in the aroma, honey. Lean taste, dark bread touches, slick, smooth, sweetish. I mean, drinkable, but immensely boring.

Super malty, but to the point of being syrupy and too caramel-like. Nothing off. Russian supermarket dresden

Dunkel under the Barkhatnoe brand as interpreted by Baltika, from a 50 cl bottle. Medium thick, pale greyish beige, mousy, slowly dissipating head, retaining well around the edge but leaving flat 'islands' of foam in the middle; clear, deep copper-hued mahogany brown robe, a tad lighter than usual for a Dunkel, actually. Aroma of dry cookies, iron shavings, hard dry caramel, cashew nuts, dry tea bags, popcorn, rubber. Sweet malty onset, caramelly with somewhat stinging, minerally carbonation and a slight metallic edge; slick body, very lightly nutty with a touch of dry cookies, adding a very light tea-ish herbal hop bitterish note in the finish. A simplistic, straightforward, 'industrial' sweetish 'caramelliness' lingers on, though. Indeed a Dunkel of sorts, in a very industrial, simplistic way, but there is a nice cookie-like edge to this one, so for me a welcome distraction from the usual dreary pale lagers you get from Eastern European industrial breweries.

470ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and small to average, frothy, diminishing, off-white to beige head. Sweet-ish, dark malty aroma, notes of malt lozenge, a touch of rock sugar. Taste is sweet dark malty, minimally roasty, notes of malt lozenge, a nutty touch. Flawless, quite simple, nice cleavage.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks Tom L. Amber. Caramel, vegetal, a bit of minerals, sweet, kvass sweetness, bitterish finish.
