Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout
Velik kao Rusija, raskošan kao palača, kompleksan kao dvorske intrige i carski moćan, pivski stil Russian Imperial Stout nastao je kao ljubavna izjava carici Katarini Velikoj.
Zavedeni istim stilom skuhali smo pivo s pozamašnom količinom alkohola i bogatih čokoladnih i kavastih aroma prženih sladova.

Da upotpunimo dojam, ovo posebno izdanje je odležavano u hrastovim bačvama od whiskeya preko šest mjeseci.

As big as Russia, as lavish as a palace, as complex as court intrigues and as mighty as a Tzar, the Russian Imperial Stout beer style originated as a love statement to Empress Catherine the Great.

Seduced by that very style, we brewed this beer with a hefty amount of alcohol and rich chocolate and coffee aromas from dark malts. To enhance the overall impression, this special release was aged in whiskey barrels for over six months.

Bottle 330 ml at Veliki Tolk, Zagreb. Pours black with medium beige head. Roasted malts, more sweet and smooth than regular, warming, maaaybe light alcohol, some coffee, wood, some whisky. Chocolate. Moderate bitterness in finish. Smooth texture. Medium to full bodied. Prefer this version to regular one.

Thick, black colored, medium+ creamy dark tan head, nice lasting. Aroma is of malt, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, some alcohol notes, oaky, bit brown sugar and some dark fruits. Taste is quite sweet malt, strong dark chocolate, coffee, some dark fruit, bit brown sugar, oaky whisky notes, some alcohol and warmth, medium bitterness, dry finish, very slight burnt undertones. Full bodied, soft carbonation, creamy. Amazing, noticeable improvement from the standard RIS, not so burnt and BA fits perfectly. (bottle, MBR, Zagreb)

Bottle @Glam Bar in Dubrovnik/Ragusa (Croatia). Black pour with a brownish lacing. Nose: soft feel of black olive, kind of phenolic hints, vanilla and licorice. Mouth is better, licorice, quite clean, cherries. Solid but far from being a masterpiece.

Bottled 330ml. -from Spicy Days Zagreb. Pitch black coloured, medium sized brown head, chocolate and whiff of wood in the nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, light noticable alcohol and distinct whiskey barrel presence. Again some alcohol shows up in the finish but nonetheless this is great beer indeed.

Boca 0,33L - kupljena u Zg-u...za razliku od običnoga ovdje je bačva uzela sve okuse, prevladava taj barrique okus...odlično

Pre-release gift courtesy of the Zmajska crew, enormous thanks! Pitch black, brownish tan head, medium retention. Fantastic aroma, obvious whiskey barrel, dried figs, sweetish, clean. Classic, flawless BA RIS aroma, without any extras and any faults. Taste... whiskey all around with some roasty touches remaining from the base beer, soft, light, drinkable. Roasty in the finish, black black chocolate, bitter, some warmth is there, but the alcohol is very well hidden for the ABV (I'd expect even bigger than stated). Not the best RIS I've had, but world class definitely.
