Draught at Armsby Abbey, 10/6/16.
Lightly hazy, bright, lemon-yellow-golden body is well-carbonated and topped by a medium-sized, white head showing moderate retention.
Soft wine notes in the nose combine nicely with moderate tartness. Lots of brett acids, but they’re fairly delicate with light band-aid, soft lime and just a touch of guava. Moderately funky, with a light lactic edge and soft, biscuity/crackery malts below everything. The wine adds brightness and complexity without dominating or adding too much acidity and there is, otherwise, no big oak character. No alcohol or flaw.
Spritzy, champagne-like carbonation softens a biscuity/crackery graininess. Quite dry, but with soft tannin bolstering the body and helping balance the acidity. Wine notes, fruity, tropical brett and light lactic acids with soft funk, exceptional cleanliness and delicateness of flavor. Hints of citrus character and light honey linger, with guava and band-aid from the brett. Maybe even a light touch of sulfur....really, really nice stuff.
