A red copper brown barley wine with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, light vinous character, plums, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with vinous character, light woody notes, alcohol warmth, light vanilla, very nice and rich. On tap at Brew Chiodo.

33cl bottle, waxed cap, brought back from Madeira for me by two friends last year. Drank at home on 20th November 2025. Poured into my huge Judas glass to allow the beer to breath and settle down a little. Misted brown body, red hue, wispy head that never really got going, it looks 'moody' to be honest. Nose is all about red wine and malts, taste is the same, some sweetness in the flavour, rich and full bodied. It's a proper winter, by the fireside sort of brew, love these sort of beers. Fifth beer in a mini tasting with myself, Margie is out and I'm having some fun before taking Bertie to pick her up later. Life's good when you drink beers like this!
