Expect a creamy coffee mouthfeel with a biscuity finish. A hint of chocolate richness rounds out the flavour, while Cascade hops lend a gentle floral aroma on the nose. A perfectly balanced stout with depth and drinkability.

Handpull cask at the Piper, Kettering. Very dark brown, just a bit of translucency. Sweet oaty aroma, sharp liquorice, some bramble. Taste is a little too sweet, cloying liquorice character which gives way to a naked bitterness to the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Not a great balance, but a pretty decent beer all things given.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A glossy deep tawny brown pour with a tight beige head; chocolate aroma; smooth in the mouth with a lactic feel and a chocolate malt taste; then a pleasant herbal bitterness and a dry malty finish. Very drinkable.
