The spirit tradition runs deep in Nelson County, but most of the distilling took place in the woods far off the Stage Road, not on it. We collaborated on this Wee Heavy Ale with the Virginia Distillery Company, keeping the ritual alive and well in Lovingston, VA. Aged in VDC ex-bourbon barrels, this full bodied, malt forward ale combines the old and the new with notes of plum, raisin and stone fruit with a sweet dry finish.

Complex flavor, more like a glass of bourbon or whisky than beer. Great combination of malt and bourbon flavor, kind of smokey and slightly sweet. Perfect sipping beer.
