This hopped up amber brew is inspired by classic West Coast India Pale Ales. But our IPL is fermented like a lager. The result, a pithy grapefruit bitterness with notes of tropical fruit and citrus of an IPA and the clean balanced finish of a lager.

Can: Poured a light amber/orangey color ale with a relatively large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light citrus hops notes with light dry crisp malt notes. Taste is also dominated by dry and subtle citrus hops with some light dry and crisp malt. Body is about average with good carbonation. A bit light on the hops side for my taste but well brewed nonetheless.

Canette 473ml. Couleur orangée claire, mousse beige persistente laissant une dentelle éparse. Arôme de houblon léger, pamplemousse, malt léger, pelure d’orange. Goût de malt caramel léger, pamplemousse, sucré léger, amertume moyenne. Carbonation élevée, corps moyen.

Single can from the LCBO (open box of 12). Pours a hazy amber colour with a frothy warm cap, fluffing away quick enough, but leaving some foamy lace. Fruity nose with some citrus and malts. Nice bitterness, creating a smooth dryness in the mouthfeel, still with some wetness to make this easy-drinking. The typical grain of Creemore Springs is there in the taste, mixed with some caramel malts and nice grassy hops in the finish. A pretty nice blend of an IPA and Pilsner that is nothing out of this world, but for an easy-going summer beer, packs a little more punch than most.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours hazy orange/amber with a generous beige head. Nose is slight floral hops but mostly grain and yeast. Good bitterness at the start fading to a slight sweetness. More IPA than Lager (but not quite enough for my tastes). Medium body with average carbonation. An Interesting combination, but I ended up wanting a little more of everything.

Draft - Grassy and lemon hops with the usual sweet lager suspects. Clear orange with a thin head. Piney lager with some lemony citrus. Not a bad IPL. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma of pepper and hops with a twist of citrus. Pours amber orange with some head and really good lacing. Medium carbonation. Taste has some spice and bitterness. This is more than a premium lager but less than an IPA. Like an IPA for beginners. On tap at Beer Academy.
