Matryoshka begins with a decadent imperial stout aged for one year in whiskey and bourbon barrels. During this twelve-month period of confinement, the powerful flavor of the barrel tempers the dessert-like sweetness of the base stout to produce a rich, smooth, flavorful stout that is neither too thick, nor too thin. 2025 Matryoshka was aged in Westward Whiskey & Westland Distillery Whiskey Barrels.

Matryoshka is perfectly, lovingly crafted to fulfill our most perfect stout dreams. Smaller and smaller variations emerge from the mother batch, conditioned on complementary ingredients, creating a family of variants.

Barrel Select 2025:
Aged in a careful selection of the best barrels in the cellar. Imperial stout from 12 month Westward Whiskey barrels, and 24 month Westland Whiskey barrels, hand chosen and expertly blended

500mL bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is complex, with lots of wood, oak barrels, and medium roast. Flavour is subtle and yet highly complex, with a wonderful whiskey barrel blend, light sherry, and loads of oak. Surprisingly light-bodied, yet ridiculously complex. Beauty.

Dark brown. Thin head. The aroma has a lot of barrel, it's quite toasty. It's got a lighter body, with the barrels, the body is lighter, the whiskey a bit rougher, but the base is solid. But that toasty, nuttiness is quite good.

Poured from 500mL bottle. Very dark brown with small beige head. Woody whiskey, feint roast and chocolate malt. A little bit rough around the edge, but okay.
