Some beers are good enough to eat. Made with lots of oats and malted grains that give a smooth, coffee and chocolate character. There was a time when the whole world drank porters. Those were good times.

Carbonatation moyenne-faible, corps moyen.

Draft - Nice roasty notes and some dark chocolate. Deep jet brown with a light brown head. Cocoa and lots of nutty sweet notes. Odd for a porter but pleasant.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a black color with an enormous foamy tan head that faded quickly but left good lacing. The aroma was coffee, a bit roasty and woody. The flavor was bitter and roasty with coffee, a hint of vanilla and wood. Long finish. Medium body. Meh.

(On tap at the brewpub, Mar 8 2014) Pours a very dark brown with a small pale tan cap of tiny bubbles. Aroma of roast malt, a little coffee, slightly nutty. On the palate, dark malt provides initial sweetness alongside a medium roast, some chocolate. The oats make themselves known mid-palate with a dry cereal character, along with some hop bitterness towards the finish that cuts right through the malt sweetness. The finish is very dry and oaty with a bit of roast. Fairly full-bodied for a porter thanks to oats, a little creamy, soft carb. I like the notion but thought the oats ended up killing a bit of the flavour later on. Still pretty good.

Super interesting for a porter. Pours cloudy brown with great initial head and lacing. Smells of malt and hops. The oats really bring a cereal taste into this. Medium palate with a medium bitter finish. On tap at brewpub.

A deep dark porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, a smooth chocolate with light rum notes, not bad. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with light vanilla, coffee, toffee, nice. Cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest Sept 29 2012.
