CALIFORNIA COMMON LAGER
Our Lucky Lager beer is a unique blend of European hops and American yeast, inspired by Austrian lagers. It has a fuller-bodied, malt-forward taste with hints of citrus and spice, named after our brewery dog, Lucky!

Can from the friendly brewer's own stall at Farnham Farmers' Market. Labelled as a California common, and from what the brewer said had definitely been brewed as that style. Clear amber to copper with a middling fizz and a negligible head. Quite nice at first. Fruity up front - orange and ripe apple initially, with toasty bready malt behind. After drinking more it got worse though - wort-y, green apple and a little raw alcohol. Felt a bit homebrew-y. Yeah, it's not great.

Can ordered from the brewery. Lost my initial rating so am paraphrasing myself. It looks the part - clear amber with a fluffy foamy off-white head. And the aroma has dough ane caramel with a grainy edge. However it tastes pretty industrial. The initial sournedged citrus and grains plus.spice devolop a saccharine sweetness and a metallic edge. The underlying malts provide dough but it's watery rather than chewy. Thing. Light. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Fails to fire in all cylinders.
