We’ve been busy this Spring and Summer installing solar panels at the brewery as part of our move towards greater energy efficiency.

And stopping the office roof leaking.

The first Oakham beer planned to be brewed exclusively with solar generated power will be the August 2025 seasonal – “Sun City”.

A refreshing new Blonde Ale featuring a dynamic duo of New Zealand sourced hops.

Kiwi favourite Nelson Sauvin™ is combined with a relatively new hop superstar in Nectaron® to give abundant and aromatic flavours and aromas.

Expect loads of tropical pineapple, passion fruit, peach and gooseberry characters plus citrus lime, grapefruit notes and herbal hints.

Thanks to our friends at Electron Green and to our former Head Brewer Mark Tetlow who have been looking after the Solar Panels project for us.

Cask gravity at the Watford beer festival 2025. A clear golden orange coloured pour with a a lasting loose white head. Aroma is green berries, hedgerow, elderflower, lime twist, earthy base malts. Flavour is composed of earthy base malts, straw, lime, gooseberry, hedgerow hop, grass. Green citrus. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, fresh, decent cask condition. Very crushable.

Cask at Pickled Pig, Stafford. Pours golden yellow with a medium sized foamy almost white head and good lacing. As you might expect from an Oakham beer the aroma is full of citrus, floral hops and tropical fruits. Similarly in the mouth it is sweet with a slight sharpness and somewhat creamy texture. Flavours of floral hops and tropical fruits with hints of lime and grapefruit coming through later to a slightly dry and sticky finish. It’s reasonable enough I suppose but far too much citrus for my taste.
