Irish Red Ale

If it isn’t already, Warbeard will soon be your favorite Irish Red. With caramel and toffee-like sweetness on the first taste, it slowly fades into a slightly dry finish. Hold it up to the light and you’ll enjoy the ruby highlights. It’s a smooth, malt focused beer that’s almost too easy to drink.

Pour is more of a cola brown with a large tan head. Aroma is toffee and caramel with a little dark fruit. Flavor is a surprising amount of toffee and this is super dry. Finish leaves a little earthiness on the tongue. This was a decent irish red almost verging into a dark Belgian.

Can pour from Friar Tuck, Crestwood. Appearance is lightly hazy red-dark amber with tons of sparkle, 2-finger width beige foamy head with good retention and nice leggy lacing. Aroma is fruit (overripe apple?), lightly toasted malts along with mild nuts and toffee. Taste is roasted--almost smoky--malts, nuts, toffee and late hint of fruit. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste with late dry quality. Overall, very true to the description and pretty nice.

Samples from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear deep ruby read with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is mainly sweet grains and bread with a hint of caramel. Flavor has a nice bread and cereal combination that is joined by a touch of caramel in the finish.
