An at home. Lovely dark pour and beige head. Nose is nutty and of dark breads. Tatses of caramel, earthy, pumpernickel, malt, dried leaf litter, nutty. Smoooth palate. Hint of licorice on finish. Odd bitter aftertaste

Draught at Greats of Craft midtown: pours dark brownwith beige head. Aroma is chocolate, toasted malts, light earthiness. Taste is rich chocolatey notes. Moderate bitterness. Big flavour all around. Quite good.

It pours very dark brown cola like, small tannish head of foam, lacing and retention are very good.
The smell is roasted malt, dark chocolate, with some bitter notes here.
The taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, has a nice level of bitterness, some light sweetness notes. Nice balance.
Medium bodied, I would drink this again.

Wow, that is right where you want it to be! Chocolatey notes produced by ample base malt and dark malts mix yielding a bit more to the base malt to give a rounder, softer, sweeter malt character with less emphasis on roast, which aids in drinkability. Earth, mineral, grassy and herbal hop in the background.
Clean and with a slightly above average hop bitterness and fresh herbal and floral/pepper notes. Not quite as richly malty as the nose may have suggested, but it's certainly amply malty, with a lower proportion of roast, as the nose suggested, as well. Flavorful, balanced, clean and crisp on the finish with a lovely chocolate and nuts character.
