Our citrusy and refreshing Berliner Weisse is a modern take on a true Berlin classic. Brewed using the same traditional lactic acid cultures as the Berlin brewers of the 1920's, our Berliner Weisse is a bright and sparkling thirst-quencher. The beer embodies the liveliness of summer with the fruity tang of lemon and melon, further complimented by the tartness of rhubarb and gooseberries. To ensure a properly Stone (and therefore iconoclastic) Berliner Weisse, we upped the ABV to a healthy 4.7% and hopped the beer with new German varieties, Huell Melon and Callista.

330 ml can into tulip glass, canned on 11/14/2018, best before 8/11/2019. Pours very hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, passion fruit, blueberry, gooseberry, strawberry, red/green apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, passion fruit, blueberry, gooseberry, strawberry, red/green apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tang/tartness; light herbal/floral/grassy bitterness, and peppery spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, passion fruit, blueberry, gooseberry, strawberry, red/green apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tang/tartness balance, and no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/tang/sourness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy/acidic, fairly tangy, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is an excellent dry hopped Berliner. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink, with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish, not overly lactic. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Awesomely well rounded Lacto and Huell Melon/Callista hop complexity; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on style example as expected.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish gold with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Light lemon and lacto aromas. A light bit of passion fruit comes out on the nose as it warms. Slightly hazy golden and light peach coloured body with a pure white head that is barely a centimetre tall. Aroma of pale grass, slight soured or tart fruit notes, a good deal of skunk and very bland malts - not too exciting on the nose. Super Light-bodied; Strong malt and wheatie elements without much other support, aside from a tiny bit of fruits and citrus without much bitterness, depth, sweetness or impact on the profile of this one at all. Aftertaste throughout is incredibly mild, stemming from the malts through the palate - this only vaguely and barely shows any tart, soured, wheatie or yeastie notes - this is just a very easy-drinking ale with no real punch in terms of flavour, balance, depth or complexity - this is ho-hum at best, and sadly compared to beers in the style - very lacking and beers from the city, so far down on the list, it's hard to imagine they have operations in the country at all - folks will realize eventually that it's a pure money grab to be over there at all to produce far inferior beers and a zero in terms of history/culture in the area there. Overall, even if its cheap, its probably better to spend your money elsewhere - this is too bland and weak. I sampled this 33 cL can, purchased a few minutes ago from Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia on 29-March-2019 for US$2,20 sampled in my hotel room a block away and only a few blocks away from my house here in Washington on the 29th-March-2019.

[live rate, no, yes] 12oz can pours with a hazy pale straw gold colored body that supports a thin bright white head of foam. The aroma offers up a thin hit of dry bread and then slightly funked lime and lemon. The taste delivers a bright pulse of cracker malt tempered acidic lemon to lime like citrus. The tartness ramps up a little more to midway. Sad world class brewers can't crank this out via sour mash rather than kettle soured. Oh well.
