The hop flavor’s big, but like life in New Orleans, we’re taking it easy. This Session IPA is brewed with lemon peels and dry hopped with Cascade, Amarillo, Centennial and Simcoe for a hoppy aroma of citrus, fruit and pine. Easy to drink and just right for long hot days, steamy nights, parades or a day on the river with friends.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run, 5/6/16. Hazy orange, large foamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of resin, dank, lemony hops and pale malt. The taste is lemon, pine, hints of tropical fruit, pale malt. Medium bodied lingering bitterness, a bit off balance.

Bottle. Ok citrus and apricot in the nose. Sweet and tangy flavor, stone fruits, some tropical fruits, then that typical kind of lemon zest thing that so many over-rely on. A bit dull.

Strong lilly and rosehip bouquet. Hazy amber, medium firm head. Lilly, rosehip, orange peel, cardboard. Minty overtones and finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. I’ve had this fresher and it was delightful. This sample is showing some age and is faring not quite as well. Still this is a good beer. Get it fresh if you can. Will re-rate if I can ever find my original rating.

Pours a slightly hazy amber from a bottle. Big soapy pine aroma dissipates in the mouth, typical thin watery session mouthfeel is offputting, eventually turns into a thin bitter mess. Meh.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Aroma suggests soapy fruit. ? Near med body. Flavor is mild caramel, citrus, fruit. Maybe not soapy, but something a bit weird. For me. Rather light on flavor. Heads towards dry and lightly bitter.

Bottle. Amber body with a short, off-white head. Light aroma of floral hops and caramel. Some raw grain, too. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes Lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Little aroma, little flavor, little character. Maybe a little citrus and resin in the taste.

12 oz. bottle stamped best by 8/18 into a tulip. A: Clear deep gold pour with a finger of tight foam with good retention and thick patches of lace. Fine sediment suspended. S: A little toffee and faint citrus like tangerine. T: Medium bitterness from orange pith without the sweetness of the nose. Faint tartness on the finish. No pine noticed. M: Light and crisp. Easy-drinking with a clean finish. O: Not a bad SIPA but hardly exceptional though this is 3 months old. Probably not a repeat purchase. There are just better cheap go-to options like Pinner or Slow Ride.

12oz bottle pours with a gold body that supports a white head of foam. The mild aroma offers up floral hops, cantaloupe, and dry pineapple meat. The taste delivers soft up clementine bitter, floral hops, bitter pineapple and then a thin body helps drive this to closer. Not terrible. There, I said it

This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a soft burnt yellow to orange color with a nice transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a quickly dissipating finger-ed head. Lacing is mainly messy and all over the place.
The smell started off with some pine, dried malts, slight burnt onion powder; slight citrus peel-like to rind quality.
The taste was mainly the same with a little more oomph. Slight lemon bitterness. Lemon to piney bitterness in the aftertaste.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body. Sessionable, damn right it is. Carbonation rides fairly low. Bitterness seems escaping a bit as it doesn’t hit as much as some IPA’s or even session IPA’s sometimes can on the feel.
Overall, well, it’s not a bad beer even if it is called a session IPA, hmmmmm...well, I think I could have more for me even if the aroma is a tad weaker. Still, I think most brewers can’t get this style 100% right just yet....hmm...one of these days.

Pour is a hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma is a pretty nice citrus and pine hop. Flavor is a little bit more mild in the hop department. A decent hop presence comes to the forefront but it’s a bit watery. Decent session IPA especially for an Abita beer. Nothing great but good enough for a quick hop fix.
