Coconut Brown Ale

Perhaps our most missed delight. We have decided it was time to bring back the coconut focus we all have dearly missed. Bolo is an American Brown Ale aged with raw macaroon coconut and brown sugar, adding a quaffable abundance of sweet tropical goodness. A perpetual spectrum of mind-bending examination, in the most drinkable of dark beers.

Dense forest demand sharp blades. Worn, torn, chipped or rusted, the Bolo shepherds the path. Later still, this tool of ancient times takes on the tiring task of harvesting the hidden fruit of the tropics. Enjoy an aroma that reminds you of tropical granola with a smooth maltiness that hints at chocolate and nuts. Baked in our kettle, cured to perfection.

Aroma’s roasty, toffee, malty, hint of coconut. Flavor’s like nose, fairly balanced, low key. Slightly overcarbonated. Was expecting more.

Poured into a mug, the appearance was a dark brown color with a cap of a little off white head. Must have held for a good two minutes before dieing off. Filmy lace ends up stringing out a little bit.
The aroma blends some sweet coconut, sweet nuts (somewhat like pecans). Sly roastiness. Nice level sweet milk chocolate. Some dark chocolate.
The flavor tries to blend a robust roasty coffee bean with the sweet milk chocolate. Adds a touch of vanilla and then the coconut shows back up. Dark chocolate seems to lean back in this department. Sticky roasty to sweet chocolatey aftertaste rolling into a smooth semi-rugged finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body, almost leaning towards the medium side. Still, with a great sessionability about it. Carbonation seems a bit lower and some stickiness seems to cling to my tongue.
Overall, nicely done brown ale in aroma and flavor. Me, I didn’t mind some of that stickiness on my tongue as it wasn’t exactly cloying. Would definitely bang this one out again.

I love the pic. Part of a trend I hope. Can. Opaque brown color, big fluffy beige head with good retention and lacing. Huge coconut oil aroma, with chocolate. Taste is earthy Mounds bar, some coffee, light body. Tasty.
