Tree of Life is an American Barleywine Ale crafted from a blend of fresh and aged Tree of Life, the latter aged for over two years in select bourbon barrels. Its evolving flavor profile is the result of a complex grain bill featuring pale, chocolate, and caramel malts, all of which are balanced by traditional American bittering hops. This patient and cohesive beer balances a chewy body with a faint hint of earthy hops.

We detect notes of brown sugar, dark sugary syrup, toffee, molasses, fig, black cherry, raisins, dates, and the faintest hint of milk chocolate character. We suggest that you enjoy it over a wide spectrum of temperatures, as it will reveal layer upon layer of character and intrigue as it warms. It will age well when kept cold. A beer for sharing—enjoy!

12oz can pours a rootbeer brown, viscous, leggy, no head. Nose has malt, caramel, brown sugar, witchhazel, dried fruits and booze. Flavor has malt and brown sugar, molasses, very dried figs and raisins, wood tannins, those natural medicinals. Full bodied, sticky, very boozy.

2025 draught at Chatlton, 9/18/25.
Good bourbon spice, sweetness, richness, with no alcohol backing. Good toffee-like sweetness, with brown sugar, cyet it doesn't smell overly sweet. And that's big, as the fresh, non-BA portion could easily be so.
Soft, juicy, sweet, with rich, rich date, brown sugar, toffee, caramel, vanilla. Ok, a bit sweeter than the nose portends, but doesn't have any of that punchy, young, sugary element these blended beers often have. Do I wish it were 100% BA? Of course. But they've done an admirable job here, and you don't have to pretend you can find the bourbon.
