(Draft at Beerlovers Bar, Antwerpen, 18 Sep 2025) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, cacao, oak wood, whisky, peat smoke and a touch of peppers. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate, oak wood, whisky, a slight chilli bite and a balanced roasty bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, quite sweet. Rich, tasty and warming with both whisky and chilli coming through well. Very nice.

Fauve y est allé un peu trop fort sur le piment....Et je peux vous assurer que sur le final, ça déménage fort...trop fort. L'idée bien que déjà tentée était pourtant bonne en faisant vieillir un impérial stout 30 mois en barrique de whisky tourbé avec intégration de "hot sauce" et de grué de cacao. En verre, c'est également bien avec un noir total avec une faible et fine effervescence et sans mousse. Joli nez avec du café, chocolat, whisky, tourbe et chêne. A la dégustation, cela commence bien, malgré une texture fine qui n'est pas ma préférence pour le style, les arômes sont bien présents avec un bon tempérament et avec des arômes de whisky qui ne sont pas trop présents (avec 30 mois en barrique j'avais un peu peur). Des arômes de poivre apparaissent également. L'alcool à 12 % jour parfaitement son rôle, rien à redire. Tout cela vous réchauffe parfaitement jusqu'à ce qu'arrive en arrière-bouche et au final les arômes pimentés qui vous ravage le palais et qui piquent bien.... Au moins cela fait boire l'Imperial Stout doucement.

On tap at the Beerlovers Bar, Antwerp, Belgium. A black coloured pour with a huge beige head on top. Rich, roasty, malty, smokey, chocolate, whisky, hint of chilli. Quite bitter but also complex. It's a decent enough imperial stout but not particularly easy to drink.

Draught Huge mossy-beige head, slowly reverting to almost black beer with mossy sheen. Alcohol, sweet Bourbon, whisky. I can smell capsicum - but probably because I know. Fiery alcoholheat and capsaicin heat, blending together in an interesting and physical way. Even replacing the CO², which is almost absent after some time. Hot, full bodied, chewy and somewhere creamy. It is really balancing on the edge. Any more capsaicin would ruin it, so I must give praise to the balance achieved - and I'm not a fan of capsaicin loaded beverages.
