Virginia is home to 1 of only 6 Belgian Monasteries in the country. “Brother Barnabas” is one of the oldest, living monks there. The true champagne of beers, this lightly colored, medium bodied Belgian-style Tripel is crisp, refreshing, and highly carbonated with fruity Belgian esters that give a great pear skin, apple, citrus-like profile.

16oz pint at Galaxy Hut pours a lightly hazy straw gold with some cloudy, white head. Nose has a lot of esters, banana, over ripe pineapple, candy, clove, straw, floral. Flavor is a little more restrained, the candy sugar and the yeast is more focused, there’s still hef-y flavors lurking like clove and banana, some straw and a little mandarin too. Full bodied, boozy and sticky finish. Lightly astringent too.
