Barrel-Aged Baltic Porter

To mark our sixth anniversary, Cabin is proud to release the latest instalment in the annual Chapter series of barrel-aged beers, conveniently packaged for the first time in 500ml bottles. For Chapter 6 we took our award-winning Baltic Porter and conditioned it in bourbon barrels that had been used to age maple syrup.

The result is a luxurious, full-bodied porter that balances rich flavours and nuanced complexity. Aromas of dried dark fruits, like fig and raisin, and sweet caramel and toffee notes lead the way, complemented by background notes of brown sugar and maple syrup. Hints of baking spices add a warming touch, while lingering notes of toasted nuts and light cocoa provide a smooth, satisfying finish. It’s the perfect post-dinner sipper.

500ml @ Ryan's shared with Farees and Phill.
Aroma: creamy notes from oak, roasted malt, some sweetness, maple.
Taste: along the same lines, on the thinner side, noticeable dark fruits.
Overall: enjoyable.

Poured from 500mL bottle. Dark brown with minimal off white head. Woody, nutty nose. Taste is woody, super feint hint of dark fruits, very mild marzipan quality, a bit thin.

Medium brown. Toasty nose with light nuttiness. Good barrel, brings whiskey warmth and a slight headsy bit of phenol. Assertive strength on the palate, the base beer is toffeeish, with light chocolate and just enough bitterness.

Bottle pour at Barrel Fest 2025, pours a clear amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma has plenty of bourbon barrels, maple syrup, and a touch of toasted malt. Flavour has notes of vanilla beans, maple syrup, and a touch of bourbon. A bit thin-bodied but nice malt structure and nice barrel character. Solid.
