Peter the Great loved English Stouts and requested them for the Russian Imperial courts. Unfortunately, the beer could not survive the long journey until 1796 when London brewery, Thrale’s, increased the alcohol content and hopping rate in their stout creating the Imperial Stout. As a nod to Peter and Thrale’s, we’ve “imperialized” this Stout by fermenting it a bit further with sour cherries.

50cl bottle pours an oily black with very little tan head. Nose has plenty of cherry, cherry juice, some raisin, some bright berry, molasses is there, a little cola. Flavor is a touch better, malt/stout is bigger, molasses, licorice, cherries, raisins, some raspberry. Finishes oily, full bodied.

Bottle. Dry wood/ash, sour red cherry, and chocolate malt aroma. Black with large brown head. Mildly sweet red cherry, chocolate malt, and moderate bitter wood ash and dry hay flavor. Okay body - a bit light for the style. On the dry side - interesting.

Bottle: Black, with a thick, dark tan head. Black cherry, chocolate, plum aroma. Taste is dark chocolate malt, slightly tart cherry. Sweet, with a light cherry/coffee bitter. Excellent....really enjoyable.

Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa Strykzone, thank you! Pretty close to black color, brown head with good retention, see pic please. Aroma of milk chocolate covered cherry bon bons. Taste is cherry cocoa. Very tasty and very easy drinking for a 9 percenter.

Pour is a complete black with a huge tan head. Aroma is a decent roasted, char malt with some dark fruit. Flavor is a minor roasted malt with a decent cherry and a overall nice red berry with some chocolate. This beer is not a huge roasted malt bomb so the cherry addition really fits in here to fill out the weak for the style used malt.
