Date bottled November 7th 2016 so I will be as kind as I can.

Pours black with an inch of off white foam.

The smell has good notes of dark chocolate and cocoa. Some sweetness but mostly bitterness.

Taste really suffers from the aging. Bitter chocolate, whatever is left of the hops comes across as astringent. No sweetness that I mentioned in the smell. Old and tired is how I would describe the whole experience.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head, only a centimetre or so tall. Aroma of roasted malt, light chocolate, a touch of raisins and prunes with a dose of mild coffee and more assertive burnt malts along with a touch of lactose at the end in the nose. Medium-bodied; Assertive malty flavours that show a faint bit of earthy and mushroom qualities along with a light chocolate and pitted fruit flavour towards the end that have a little bitterness and a hit of alcohol and deep robust oatmeal and grainy quality towards the end. Aftertaste is focused squarely on the chocolate and earthy malt flavours with a light touch of vanilla and lactose to round on the flavours, but the malt is the strongest along with some mild baking chocolate with a lot of bitterness at the tail end. Overall, a good enough beer that shows the qualities you'd expect from the style, but nothing overtly supreme or worth searching out for - especially not the name on the can. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 04-December-2018 for US$1,83 sampled at home in Washington on 18-March-2019.

On draft at Pangea Tavern in Avon it is a dark cola color with a thick tan head. The aroma is chocolate. And the taste is bitter roast coffee and milk chocolate

The aromas are very roasty with a little bit of cocoa and black patent. Flavors are a lot like nose with not much cocoa, bittersweet good carbonation and body and a little bit more cocoa in the Finish.

Can. Opaque black with a generous mocha colored head. Coffee and cocoa aroma. The flavor follows the aroma on a creamy body that holds hop bitterness and malt sweetness in a very nice balance.
