Can drunk 9/14/25.
Clear, dark. Small, tan head.
Spicy bourbon and definite Belgian phenols with strong caramel, rich oak and punchy bourbon. Not boozey or sugary, yet the bourbon is pretty dry, heavy, somewhat sharp without much soft or deep spice character. Light oxidation and strong Belgian yeast lingering on the finish a bit at odds with the bourbon.
Soft, sweet, not too much so, drying out with heavy bourbon. The bourbon is so-so. Certainly not too oaky/tannic, but kind of mediocre as far as expressive flavor, deep spice, round, soft notes, etc...The beer itself is malty and soft with a good chewiness and no cloying sweetness or syrup. The Belgian character comes through and there's only mild roast, licorice and prune with low vanilla. Probably some more vanilla, fudge, bourbon spice and milder/rounded Belgian notes would make this a bit more approachable.
