HopGasm is Brewmaster Kevin McNerney’s innaugural release at 5 Seasons. HopGasm is a west coast India Pale Ale, bold in every sense. It invites you with a nose far more intruiging than most IPAs. We use 5 different hops, including Simcoe and Amarillo, which gives an incredibly rich bouquet and a pleasurable mouthfeel. It’s a bit over 7% ABV, but a solid malt backbone and a sumptuous aftertaste will make you want multiple HopGasms.

Draft - big sweet grapefruit and pine. Clear copper with a good white head. Lots of pine, then grapefruit and a sweet caramel finish. Definitely well balanced and on the malty side with a longer resinous finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark amber color, with a small, beige head. Big floral and citrusy hops, light caramel, and apples. The flavor is very bitter, with a pretty good malt backbone. Medium to heavy body. The mouthfeel is lightly acidic and a little watery. Overall, this is a nicely hopped beer, but the palate is lacking.

On tap @ Prado location. Smells like a real hop bomb: Resiny, flowery, piney hops. Taste is relatively mild, with even some malty sweetness, but quite dry. Finishes with a mild bitterness, with all the aroma still in place. Very good and very different from your average Westcoast IPA. Rated 01/26/09

A woody, citrusy, delicious, fruity dark amber hop bomb. I quite enjoyed this one.
