The quad in this series of Eindhoven-based craft beers, thanks Jurgen for sharing. Lacing, pale greyish eggshell white, opening head, irregular moussy ring; very dark, hazy, deep chestnut bronze robe. Aroma of plum jam, raisins, fig compote, brown sugar, toffee, caramel candy, hay, dry earth, vague wet dog touch, port. Fruity, estery onset, sweet pear syrup and raisins, brown sugar sweetness with an underlying, plum-like sourish touch, softish carbo, thick and fluffy mouthfeel that completely fits the intended style. Toffeeish and caramelly, bready, bit toasty malt sweetness, lingering caramel and fig jam aspects but relatively well-balanced by a herbal, bit earthy hop bitterish note and port-like, warming alcohol. Very sweet even for a quadrupel, almost reminiscent of Kasteelbier or something like that, but technically well done, genuine, natural, rich and warming.

Very good, dense & fine yellowish cream head over deep dark ruby to chestnut beer. Very creamy nose, hints at vanilla, caramel, dark candi sugar, dark green leaves, liquorice. Very sweet all in all. Human sweat, liquorice, dark malts & melanoidins; roasted bitter retronasal mainly. Chocolate suikerbonen . Mushy feel despite serious carbonation, and somehow it seems to strive to be richer than it is. Tell me... Rochefort 10 était dans le collimateur, non?... But the collimator was turned 45°, I fear.

33cl Bottle, thanks Benzai! Dark ruby brown colour, creamy beige head. Aroma of rock sugar, sweet, dark malts, dark fruits, figs, hint of coffee, some liquorice, Belgian yeast. Flavour is sweet, malty, dark fruits, rock sugar, light spicy, some ground clove, bittersweet finish with a hint of coffee and liquorice. Medium to full bodied. Just enough depth to keep it interesting. Nice.
