Raspberries and sour beer is a magical pairing that creates something more than the sum of its parts: a perfect summer day in a glass. Our version of a Framboise draws inspiration from the farmland in the Santa Cruz mountains, where windswept hills have warm days and cool nights that result in tight, red berries with complex flavors and a ruby red-color. Combined with our sour blonde ale, the final blend highlights huge fruit flavor and the bounty of Coastal California. Pair with pancakes, seared duck breast and summer fruit tarts.

First rating for 2017! 375 ml bottle poured into a tulip. Fall 2016 edition. Hazy reddish orange with thin off-white head. Aromas of raspberries, light vinegar, some funk, bit of wine. Tastes of raspberries with a touch of lime, tart acidic notes, some funk, a little sour yogurt. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Tasty.

375mL bottle, pours an opaque cloudy pink with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of fresh raspberries, medium tartness, some pithy fruit skins and a little funk. Flavour is quite deep, with lots of tart fresh raspberries, fruit skins, bretty notes, and farmhouse characteristics. Lots of tart raspberries and dry fruit skins on the finish. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours quite hazy pink lemonade, small fizzy white head, dissipates quickly, a bit of lacing. Aroma is fresh raspberries, lemon, oak, funk, brett, lactose. Flavor is light plus tart, light funk, loads of berry goodness, lactose and a hint of oak tannin. Light plus body, spritzy carbonation. Really nice. Great job Phil!

375 ml bottle. Pinkish peach color. Clouded through. Smallish white head, fairly fizzy. Fairly strong raspberry flavor. Somewhat jammy. Funny plasticky sweetness underneath it. Some lacto character. Light oak. Very little funk, not much depth to it. Not incredibly tart but the taste has a funny berry sharpness. More of that oddball sweet note. Raspberry has an artificial edge in the taste. Some butteriness as it warms, probably from the wine barrel. Fizzy, medium-light body. Some tanginess to it. A bit disappointing. Raspberry tartness is somewhat too aggressive, particularly when the beer has issues otherwise.

On Tap hazy orange/pink with a thin white film of fine bubbles. Lots of raspberry fruit in the aroma. Bright crisp tart raspberry in the flavor. Vary tasty, quite tart but somehow very complimentary of the raspberry fruit. Very good.

375 mL bottle poured with much anticipation. Most importantly, raspberry is one of my favorite flavors in this world. Beer is one of my favorite things in this world. Almanac is one of my favorite breweries in this world. There was a 0% chance this beer would be a miss. Celebrating the 15th Bengals TD of the year with this rate. A bright pink color pour with a thin fizz head that fades. Aroma is a heavy sour red raspberry, with undertones of wine and tropical fruit. Flavor is a close match. Juicy, jammy, tart red raspberry that makes this a standout for sure. Cool as well, to pair nicely with the sour. Moderate acidity, sourness 8/10. Overall an outstanding sour here.
