So I saw this and had to buy it, even though it clearly is a bit older than ideal. Nice grain bill, rye spice, earthy buckwheat.

Not as bad as I expected, considering the photo, but also not a fan of the extra buckwheat and rye flavors. Smells like an old cellar, tastes upfront like a light saison then you're hit by rye and earthy bitters that linger for long long after,

$8.79 bomber, Wine Warehouse. Pours brownish with a giant beige/peach head. Aroma is barnyard funk, hay, rye, apple, light spice. Flavor is funk, burnt malt, hay, apple skin, earth, rye, yeast. Finishes quite burnt, bitter, and strange. Have to say I've not tasted something quite like this before.

22oz bomber split with the one known as Anndiesel. Murky stained glass amber-copper body. Massive, obnoxious, infected-like off-white head. The malt tones are really nice and show a lot of depth, the buckwheat complementing the rye. Not sure what the Brett offers, other than some pseudo-traditional belgo feel. Unique, has a lot of Belgian/Euro sensibility, but lacks the body. Still a pretty cool beer.

Pours a sort of copper color with a large white head. Aroma is obviously quite bretty in that earthy sort of herbal way. Lods of grain and spiciness therein as well. Taste is funky and kind of bitter. Powerful grainess and herbalness up in there. Pretty good.
